One new tactic is Kennedy's assertion that Estrada has "serious temperament problems," a claim that hasn't previously been made. On Wednesday, Kennedy told his Democratic colleagues that members of the Hispanic caucus and other Latino leaders see Estrada as not being "even-tempered" and having a "short fuse." One influential Hispanic who heard the remarks told Fox News that he found Kennedy's comments "offensive" and "racist." A GOP source, added: "They're trying to make him into Ricky Ricardo."

I know Miguel very well. His wife was my wife's college roomate. Kennedy's statements are absurd and clearly demonstrate that he does not know what he's talking about and that he must have never met Miguel.
Miguel is very soft spoken person and is one of the most pleasant people I know. I have never heard him make a harsh statement. As a lawyer, I can tell you that I would love to have him as a judge in my circuit (the 11th Circuit).
There's an especially warm place in hell for politicians who engage in slander and charater assination!
GO MIGUEL GO!!!

"Kennedy's assertion that Estrada has 'serious temperament problems,'"Kennedy still have temperence issues?
If I were President I would be tempted to have the dimocrat members of the committee arrested for sedition in time of war. They are no longer the "loyal opposition".

Actually I pray for a black-out in the Senate chamber. No TV cameras, no filibuster.

The key word is "qualified," Menendez said, Estrada has no judicial experience or a "critical understanding" of issues about Latinos. Hmmmm. I would hope he would have a "critical understanding" of the CONSTITUTION if he's going to be seated on the US Circuit Court of Appeals, Menendez, you jackass!
Wouldn't that be the important issue?

We must filibuster Miguel Estrada's nomination," he (Kennedy) told lawmakers at the weekly Democratic policy lunch. "The White House is almost telling us that they plan to nominate him to the Supreme Court. We can't repeat the mistake we made with [Supreme Court Justice]Clarence Thomas." Kennedy says: NO MORE DARKIES ON THE BENCH!!!

Is Kennedy ever not drunk?
Bring on the damned filabuster!
The real issue is whether Senate RINOs will hold firm.

The key word is "qualified," Menendez said, Estrada has no judicial experience or a "critical understanding" of issues about Latinos. I think most nominees for federal judgeships have no judicial experience.

Big time. Doesn't Boxer run again in 2004?
Heard there is a memorial for Columbia tomorrow in D.C. Hard to explain why the House is there, but Dem Senators fighting over a Hispanic.
I was hoping for this.

Chuckie Schumer speaking against Estrada on C-SPAN 2 right now.

Thank you for your personal insight into this man, that goes beyond the high points of his career which were just shown as a snipe on the C-SPAN coverage of the unofficial filibuster. I love the smell of hypocrisy in the morning. I brought the same sort of personal experience to my column on Joe Lieberman and John Kerry, both of whom I met as teenagers in college. It's always valuable when Freepers bring to the table personal knowledge that offers insights not available in the sterile, public record.
Thank you for doing that, Counselor.
