Colin Powell
I think Powell delivered the message loud and clear !
From a previous FR thread:
The White House has been regularly receiving the NSA transcripts ever since the inspectors returned to Iraq late last year. The damning nature of some of the transcripts, officials said, explain President Bushs occasional outbursts of anger at the Iraqis, as well as the willingness by Powellwho had previously cautioned against warto lay out a damning picture of Iraqi noncompliance in next weeks speech. One official who had dinner with Powell recently said the secretary remarked how we have a stronger case than many people realize.

The foreign ministers of Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia, however, put out a statement in support of the U.S. position. If we add these to the eight European nations who have already expressed their support, who is left? Germany and France and some Scandinavian countries and Luxembourg and Liechtenstein and Andorra and Monaco and San Marino...and who else?

So when does the bombing commence? What is the next step before Bush feels it is time to pull the trigger? This is the first time the administration hasn't specified what the next step of the process will be. That implies that they don't want to be specific anymore.
The shooting may start very soon.

I listened to the entire briefing.
Got to the University, asked some of the anti-war weenies (holding their non-sensical signs) if they'd listened to it...
the uniform answer from them was "no." Big surprise... :-\
It is beyond dispute, that the time to send in the military to shred Saddem (saddem = bootlicker in arabic) and his regime...
FReegards...

I listened to the whole speech, and I really believe that anyone who says that Powell hasn't made the case is seriously running the risk of discrediting themselves. The evidence was certainly strong enough so that denial of it constitutes an intentional delusion.
The gun may not be smoking, but the barrel is certainly still warm.

I simply do not understand what the dems are trying to accomplish. There is ample proof and their, "more study," "more information," is nothing but treason! Fat Teddy was blathering in an effort to try to muster an argumnet in the face of Powell's presentation. I am now convinced that someone besides Joe got into ole Rose's knickers. Teddy and Jack could not have the same parents.
Is there any scenario where the dems anti-American posturing makes sense? Sure, if they believe that San Francisco is representative, that the commies of ANSWER are right, or that the French and Germans and Iraqis are wiser. But, why would these guys turn traitor? A party in opposition is one thing, but these guys are BACKING Saddam. Why?
Their hatred of Bush and of normal Americans is one thing but where is there profit in it, now or the next election?

Me thinks they are going to come out on the short end of the stick once Iraq is liberated, and all the bio and chem weapons have either been used, or captured. It will be brutal for the Dems then.

I simply do not understand what the dems are trying to accomplish. There is ample proof and their, "more study," "moreinformation," They are all lawyers and are owned by the lawyer lobby. They are trying to apply the American test of "Guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt". In the world of terrorism and war this is a false test particularly in light of the availability of WMDs. The only proof may come when New York dies or Los Angeles disappears.
