I remember reading that right after President Bush gave his speech at the UN last fall, Saddam ordered all the family members of the UN people back home...so this guy's family is being held really, he HAS to give a good speech back.

One of the most striking unstated conclustions from Powell's speech was that the inspectors have been compromised. The Iraqis knew where the inspectors were headed days before they arrived.

Of course, this limits our ability to share our intelligence about weapon locations.

This is one of the clearest arguments against further inspections. I wish Powell had stated this fact more explicitly, but perhaps he didn't want to shame and directly accuse the inspectors of collaborating with Iraq.

Yes. They have sent veiled threats that they would shoot down the U-2's if they fly over. They also suggested that they would let the U-2's fly over IF they had escort fighters from the Iraqi AF.

Iraq has sent completely filled out death certificates (minus the time and date of death) for the ENTIRE families of the scientists we want to talk to. That's how they've warned the scientists not to talk and still say they have not "directly" told the scientists not to talk to us.

Exactly.

AND President Bush told us about the death threats to the scientists *and* their families in his SOTU speech. Notice how little coverage it received in the media.

Back to combover: He is *surprised* at Powell's assertion Iraq would use chemical weapons against their own people. He cites a report that stated Iraq didn't have such weapons. I'm sorry, but I missed the alleged source of this "report".
