The left could not care less about whether "a case has been made". All they (specially euro-lefties) are concerned with is using "multilateral" organizations like the UN to tie down and "rein in" (their own nauseating phrase) the USA. No proof would be enough to derail their attempts to use the UN especially to weaken the US and build up the EU.

I, too, have criticized him. Perhaps this was all a master plan of Dove & Hawk or perhaps that is just the way it played out..but Powell is so Powerful and masterful. To be frank, I don't think Bush could do this good of a job at an 1 1/2 presentation.

The best thing about this is that Powell obviously believes what he is saying-- he is fully supportive of the President's position and is making it forcefully.

It will be difficult for the left to argue against Powell without being able to make the house slave analogy stick. But they'll now try to rip Powell apart and discredit him would be my guess.

The funny thing is, the Bush ADMIN knew all about this crap before the Security Council voted. This is why they began an action plan against Iraq shortly after 9-11.

If anyone is getting the last laugh, it will be the Bush Admin because they have been right all along. Let's hope that the year spent trying to convince everyone won't prove to be a serious mistake.
