In a day filled with emotions, tributes, and tears, President Bush and First Lady Laura attended the memorial service for the astronauts whose lives were lost in the space shuttle Columbia tragedy on Saturday. The President spoke to the crowd of at least 10,000 teary eyed mourners, and eulogized the Columbia crew. In the closing moments of his speech, Bush spoke to the children of the crew by saying, 'And to the children who miss your Mom or Dad so much today, you need to know, they love you, and that love will always be with you. They were proud of you. And you can be proud of them for the rest of your life.' The First Couple returned to Washington this evening. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya.

oh rintense, I followed on the Live Thread this morning as much as I could, veering back and forth between sobbing quietly in my cubicle, then drying my eyes and going to a staff meeting, then back again, then various other work duties.
Haven't looked at all the pix on the Daily Dose yet - just got to my ping and got back at ya.
I'm sure I'll be tearing up again momentarily as I scroll down through the pix and comments.

I missed that. *SIGH* What a truly humble man.

"When peace like a river
Flows over my soul,
When troubles and sorrows
From life all have flown,
I'll drink from the fountain
That flows deep and wide,
When peace like a river,
Peace like a river,
Peace flows over my soul."
God bless, oWf and family!

I missed the ceremony, but teared up just reading his speech and seeing the photos. The part where he spoke to the children is where I lost it.

Oh, those beautiful children. Like I said, tears are rolling down my cheeks, as I knew they would.

"Oh, Ohio, you raised a good kid. What a wonderful thing for a young person to say. God bless and protect you and your family."
I totally agree. It is refreshing to hear younger people talk like that. What a wonderful man he is.

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blessed assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
Even so, it is well with my soul.
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

"Did you all see the president give his hankerchief(sp?) to Rick Husband's little boy? A simple act of a servent."
I saw it, that was so sweet for him to do that.

If you didn't know the reason they were looking up to the sky, one might think they were all looking Heavanward to see the seven members of Columbia with our Lord.

Eric's remark says it all. I did what we discussed. Huntsville is having a service tomorrow at noon. I have a stomach virus so don't guess I will get to go. Hubby and older daughter will be going. She gets in from Detroit tomorrow. Our granddaughter has the same thing as Jan and I do.

I should have pinged you to #54. I know where Eric got his quote.

It makes you wonder, how much more can a man take? They say that God doesn't give you more than you are able to handle. He must believe that our President can handle a lot.

On Eagle's Wings
You who dwell in the shelter of the Lord
who abide in His shadow for life
Say to the Lord, "My refuge, my Rock
In whom I trust."
The snare of the fowler will never capture you,
and famine will bring you no fear;
Under His wings your refuge,
His faithfulness your shield.
And He will raise you up on eagle's wings,
bear you on the breath of dawn,
Make you shine like the sun,
and hold you in the palm of his hand.
