Depends on how far apart you mean. If you mean after 8:04, I'd modify your statement to simply, "It is unlikely that the Astronauts were able to talk after the shuttle came apart." But the shuttle was flown in on every previous mission, 100% of them, incomplete, with pieces missing, with tiles missing, and with tiles damaged.

Hold On! Sheesh, everybody back in their corners! The tiles are much lighter/lower density than the other materials of the shuttle. From 39 miles up, I certainly could see some of the tiles headed westward, either through wind drift or ballistic impacts from the heavier debris at the time of break-up.It would not be very many tiles, but a few could have landed in Fort Worth.

So, your personal speculation is that the loss of communication happened at the exact moment of the breakup. Gee, what are you doing here.... why aren't you at NASA straightening them out ?

Not to mention I find it odd that NASA isn't sold on the idea either. All of a sudden someone broadcasts a video with a puff of smoke. Heck CNN had the shuttle traveling at the speed of light! They want to interview some people as what they are describing doesn't make sense!

I will tell you what has gotten into this woman. I see crappy speculation, accusations based on non-evidence, and incessant bashing of NASA and the administration by people who don't have a basic understanding of science.

If you think this is emotional, buster, you can stuff it. I have a degree in hard sciences, and I know how to discern evidence from idle speculation.

People who do this endless speculating without evidence or even basic knowledge do harm to this forum, making all of us look like nutcases.

Don't you think calling us names on here is defeating whatever your purpose is on here because we have reported what we heard from the briefing? We have not claimed to be experts

You have seen fit to call us names and treat us like little children not only on this thread but to people on other threads. I, for one, find your condescending comments offensive. People that truly are experts don't go around making rude, obnoxious remarks to others that are not experts when they are reporting what they are hearing for others.
