Terry is a good guy. He supported Pat and has been trying to do something about illegal immigration for the ten years that I've known him.

I wonder what the excuse will be after we allow a nuclear device to be smuggled into the United States and exploded in some large metropolitan center. It sure won't be that we closed our borders and checked all merchandise coming into our nation on ships and trucks. It sure won't be that we stopped all immigration from nations that support terrorism. It sure won't be that we stopped everyone known to be on the list of likely terrorists.

What will the excuses be, if not these? These are the best ways to reduce terrorism. We haven't done a single one of these things.

It is sad what has happened in my neighborhood. This was a respectable, blue-collar area of hard-working black folks living in their bungalows and going to their jobs. In just a couple decades it has become almost entirely Mexican.

What I see in my community of South Central Los Angeles -- where I have lived nearly all my life -- is thousands of Mexicans who care nothing about our traditions and culture, and only want to impose their way on us. That's not immigration, that is invasion.

Well nice too see a black person take the liberal wool away from their eyes and see the reality of dis-assimilation in modern America--which is certainly not limited to Mexicans (look at the Somali leaches in Maine). In my opinion the black vote is up for grabs and black disaffection will keep Democrats out of the White House for a generation.

One thing needs to be said over and over again: The problem with America today is not the blacks and its not the immigrants. It is the elite liberals who control our institutions (and they are almost totally white). These elites are, for their own economic and political purposes, flooding the nation with legal and illegal immigrants. When the reaction finally occurs among working class whites (and, in light of this article, from working class blacks as well) it could be ugly. But the blame will rest with those who crafted the policies for their own nefarious reasons.

If one wishes to avoid deteriorating formerly proud ethnic neighborhoods then one should by all means try to make as much money as possible and move as deep into upper middle class white neighborhoods as possible or move near such areas that are experiencing record growth.

Otherwise any blue collar urban area is vulnerable to these changes.

My hometown of Jackson Mississippi is a wasteland now. Nashville on the other hand has thriving middle and upper middle class environs (open to anyone of any hue who can afford it).

If one cannot afford it then they should move to the country promptly when things start to go sour or less they will be stuck with a home worth much much less than they paid for it in 20-40 year old dollar values. I see old folks in Jackson stuck in hellhole "hoods" in homes they bought for 25-30K thirty years ago that now sell for 5K....seriously.

Ethnic changes which do not affect property values or crime are of much less consequence other than perhaps as an irritant culturally or language-wise. Miami is a good example of this. Miami has prospered from Latin waves but some Anglos get aggravated at starting to feel like strangers in their own land. So, they all moved to Broward. Now they are all moving yet again. It's a cycle.

This is, in part, the result of blacks following the pied pipers of the Democrat party. They have allowed themselves to be persuaded to abort most of their children--an even higher percentage than suburban white abortions. And they have sat by while clinton and his friends have admitted a huge crowd of illegal immigrants who can then be put on the rolls to vote Democrat. And then they turn around and vote 95% for the party that is dedicated to aborting them.

Yes, the Republicans have gone along with illegal immigration, because some of their donors are businessmen looking for cheap labor and because they don't want to be tarred with the brush of racial prejudice by the media. Bush has gone along with it, too. But the chief pressure to admit more and more illegals comes from the liberals. It is not in America's best interests to have millions of illegals in the country, nor is it in the best interests of blacks, as this article suggests.

It's time for the blacks to wake up and get off the Democrat plantation. In many different ways, this unholy alliance has been corrupting and destroying them.

THE black community has made great strides in the last few decades. Racism has certainly not been eradicated, but it is no longer accepted with a wink and a nod as it once was.

Racism is indeed accepted mainly from the black community. Just this morning I saw an interview on C-SPAN II in which an African-American author discussed his book about diiving to the wreck of a slave ship.

When asked why he was along on the dive he said to write an article for the magazine for the National Association of Black Scuba Divers. If there was an Association of White Scuba Divers they would be called racists.

What if a hundred thousand Vietnamese were suddenly dropped into Guadalajara?

I can't quite articulate why I find this article racist and repellent. Maybe it's because Anderson himself looks at illegal immigration as a racial issue ("a harsh thing for a black person to say against brown people").

In fact, 50,000 Vietnamese "were suddenly dropped" into Northen Virginia from 1975 to 1990.

They did not ask for Vietnamese schools, they did not destroy the labor market, they did not ask for handouts. They just went about the business of joining American society. And to a large degree they've succeeded.

Oh yeah: they're all - 100 percent - LEGAL immigrants.

If Anderson could get out of his racist mindset he'd see the only issue at stake is the rule of law, not ethnicity.

By definition, "Hispanic" illegals are first and foremost scofflaws and criminals. Maybe that's why he doesn't like them in his neighborhood.

The Democratic party is getting ready to abandon blacks for Hispanics, just like they abandoned the white middle class working male in the 1970's, the Asian American in the 1980's and the jews in the 1990's. Sad but they won't know it until it's too late.

Rather, the politically surreal isolation self-imposed by "the black leadership," with which they have for the last decades continued to try and convince black people of the futility of daring to entertain [law-abiding] opportunities, has now proven to be the chain for securing real isolation.

All these years during which especially young black men could have been studying instead of feted at the altar of Jesse Jackson's "You have a right to be perpetually down 'n in the 'hood."

It's incredible; all of a sudden about ten years ago, there appeared around here hundreds of illegal aliens from "south of the border."

They found jobs which supposedly did not exist --- er, that is, they found jobs, instead of waiting around for something extorted from Jesse Jacksonian Democrat-cy (or The Reverend Al's Creative Workship, or Harry Bull 'n Fount o' Pain).

We could have right now, a few thousand young black men who had instead studied and become doctors and scientists and engineers, and they could be contributing to the cures of various ills of the little kids over at Children's Hospital.

But no, because The Party of Closure wants none of it ... that is, they want nothing by virtue of employing what is in each of us, the restless energy to do something.

The hardest part of work, is the self-discipline and expectations of oneself, from which come productivity greater than the needs of yourself; and when working as a team, sometimes twice as productive.

It's nature's way of growing; God's design.

Something the Reverend Al could do so much more to explain and see much more in the fruit of our labors.

Jesse has always tended toward shameless tall tales, yet he used to get away with it because in small numbers, he would tell young black children to study, to work on their education; but he, has long since stopped explaining to kids how they must prepare themselves for law-abiding opportunity.

In the end, you saw that that was not my intention(s) at all. However, please peruse this thread and tell me if you don't see the exact same thing that suits what you were asking.

Immigration is indeed a huge problem. There's no denying it. But one would think that Americans of all stripes would stand together on this issue. That doesn't appear to be the case with some here.

A black person raises the same issue that is of tremendous concern to conservatives and the reactions of some is simply, "Oh, well. What goes around comes around!"

If Asian or European immigrants had moved into your neighborhood it's likely that you wouldn't have had to write this article.

It's only the desire of *some* hispanic immigrants to terraform areas of the United States into little Mexicos completely with Spanish spoke in the public square that causes this problem.

It is not at all racist for American immgrants of prior generations to demand that this new wave conform to the standards we have set for our country.
