For the second time in two years, President Bush spoke to console and grieve with the rest of the nation in remarks regarding the tragic loss of the space shuttle Columbia. Bush left Camp David early this morning and returned to the White House as he followed the events over the Texas sky. In his speech, Bush succinctly expressed the fears of by stating, 'The Columbia is lost; there are no survivors.' The President exchanged condolences with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon as the first Israeli astronaut lost his life with six other Americans. All federal flags have been lowered to half-staff.
God bless the families of the brave souls who have joined the heavens they so willing chose to explore.

I missed his comments as I had to go to work. I'm so grateful that we have a President who is not afraid to quote scripture and acknowledge our Creator.
God bless and comfort the families of the 7 souls you now hold in the palm of your hand.

I agree with you, Howlin. If I hear any liberal democrat say one derogatory word about the president in the next few days, I am going to scream.

I found this on a web site Pokey linked to. We could use another good laugh tonight, so here goes.
"Send him to Hollywood because all the people out there like him."

At some point today, I heard someone on the TV mention that budget cuts for the space program were put into place about 10 years ago (probably right after the 1993 Inauguration speech).

My sincere prayers for Ruth. May our Lord Jesus Christ guide her to the correct path and give her the wisdom to choose it.

I missed the President's remarks but read the transcript Sorry you didn't hear him as the transcript failed to include the tears he fought to control.

KEN ALLARD, retired Army colonel, on where to exile Iraqi President Saddam Hussein That is pretty funny. Think I'll be stealing that line.
Loved the Flat Stanley story-am anxious for a major news outlet to pick it up-these real life joys can bind a nation. And for sure-we need some of that.

rintense,
After the President's speech, he briefly left the lecturn then came back. I was watching CNN at the time, and the President's return took the anchor by surprise. CNN cut away, and I quickly checked the other stations. All had cut away. Did anyone get to see the President after he returned to the lecturn? Did he say anything more? Did he answer questions? Someone suggested (can't remember who) that he had to compose himself before facing the cameras again. Does anyone know?

Yes send him to Hollywood, and they can all get on the slow boat to China. Someone else said tonight how they get so upset at the site of "those" demorats. Well I do too, but I also get a sicky feeling. I'm trying to change this. I have just been turning them off. Isn't this just awful. The thing I want to say is that this blessed site sure helps, because I know I'm not alone on this feeling. Geez a long post.

I'm just waiting for that bastard and his vile spouse to make this all about themselves They're too busy weaving their web of deceit -- beginning with coaching Nelson Mandela and Lord knows what vicious attack she has in the wings. Comforting that her last assault got little press!
Awhile back I mentioned how gray he's become in his brief time in office and Drudge also noticed last week posting a photo that shows the strain he faces every day as he protects us.
Thanks rintense.
