For the second time in two years, President Bush spoke to console and grieve with the rest of the nation in remarks regarding the tragic loss of the space shuttle Columbia. Bush left Camp David early this morning and returned to the White House as he followed the events over the Texas sky. In his speech, Bush succinctly expressed the fears of by stating, 'The Columbia is lost; there are no survivors.' The President exchanged condolences with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon as the first Israeli astronaut lost his life with six other Americans. All federal flags have been lowered to half-staff.
God bless the families of the brave souls who have joined the heavens they so willing chose to explore.

Nah. Their first (collective) thought was how to use this for their own benefit. The next was how to blame President Bush and the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy.

No disrespect, but did you hear that the problem started with left-wing? It's gonna be hard for them to get by with vest-right-wing conspiracy theory.

Okay you are right. First they thought of themselves!
Thank God for George W.
Sometimes I worry that the burdens he is under are so great that he'll decide one term as President is enough. I mean, MY GOD, this guy hasn't had a moments peace since the get-go.

I've been reading about Ilan Ramon; once again, I am furious with myself for NOT knowing more about him before this happened.

You are welcome. They may even have it up on the White House web site (www.whitehouse.gov) with the video too. I haven't checked that yet but they get those things up there pretty quickly.

Howlin, I could have written your last post...my feelings, exactly. I am worried about President Bush...I don't know how much more he can pile on his plate...and even today a DemocRAT, Byron Dorgan, was out slamming the President and his tax cut/growth plan...EVEN today. I am way past furious.

President Bush chose the scripture himself which made it extra special. This was reported on one of the cable channels.

I have a very special request to make today. My dearest friend is dying.
She's my closest confidant, and truest friend. I am heartbroken.
She's been very sick, but still active, for a year. There's a very serious heart surgery which could save her. But she's made up her mind to die. (And who are we to say what someone else should decide about their death?)
She's terrified to go to the hospital for fear that they'll operate on her heart against her wishes. I know, I know, they need her signature, but her reasoning apparently is that they might do it as an emergency measure if she is unconscious.
She no longer returns our phone calls.
So, of course, I ask for your prayers for Ruth, one of the sweetest, most caring people in the world, either for the Holy Spirit to help her change her mind, or for a peaceful death, whichever God knows is right for her.

Ilan Ramon? All I know is in 1982 he helped put an Iraqi nuclear reactor out of it's misery.

Thanks so much for posting the pixes tonight.
Our courageous, OVER-burdened president does look tired (although some of this is due to poor lighting and camera angles!)! My family and I continue to pray for him daily (and on days like today, HOURLY)!
God bless the astronauts and their families! And may God continue to bless President George W Bush!

No, I don't think he would abandon his mission. This isn't a job, it's a calling.
He is not motivated by flattery and meaningless awards from self-important Eurotrash and he isn't obsessed with how history will see him. He doesn't do things based on how well they poll. He does everything because it's right -- and because it's something he is meant to do.

A Memorial I did this morning in Photoshop.
I am using this for my desktop. Feel free to use it or post
it anywhere you like.
The Background was taken by Digital Camera from this
shuttle mission.
The rest of the pics are from Nasa's website.
There is a larger version on my website here:

He looks NUMB! Just like I was this morn! I still can't believe that on top of 9-11, the world hating us, UN putting up brick walls against us going to disarm the EVIL ONE, AND now this! HOW MUCH MORE CAN this mere mortal bear?! DEAR GOD, I know there is a reason for this, BUT PLEASE Lord show us WHY?!! We need to come gether in UNITY like never before. PLEASE pray for our W and the families! You forgot to mention the DemocRATS and the media bashing him 24/7...other than that, I agree with everything you wrote.

"We picture death as coming to destroy; let us rather picture Christ as coming to save. We think of death as an ending; let us rather think of life as a beginning, and that more abundantly. We think of losing; let us think of gaining. We think of parting; let us think of meeting. We think of going away; let us think of arriving. And as the voice of death whispers, 'You must go from earth,' let us hear the voice of Christ saying, 'You are but coming to me.'" (Norman Macleod)
