A day in the life of President Bush (photos): 2/1/03

For the second time in two years, President Bush spoke to console and grieve with the rest of the nation in remarks regarding the tragic loss of the space shuttle Columbia. Bush left Camp David early this morning and returned to the White House as he followed the events over the Texas sky. In his speech, Bush succinctly expressed the fears of by stating, 'The Columbia is lost; there are no survivors.' The President exchanged condolences with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon as the first Israeli astronaut lost his life with six other Americans. All federal flags have been lowered to half-staff.

God bless the families of the brave souls who have joined the heavens they so willing chose to explore.

Republic, I can not believe what this man has had to go through. I know that God does not give us more than we can bear, and I am awed at the faith our Lord has in this president. The viciousness of the attacks from outside this country are as nothing compared to the viciousness of the attacks from within. Those must be especially painful to this man.

I know that he will continue the task he as been given, I just pray that the price is not too dear. I can see his heart breaking in that first photo and it has moved me to tears.

I hope he knows that we pray for him, and I hope he knows we understand.

You are so welcome here. I agree with your description of this forum, and would say it applys especially to this thread.

Imho, this website stands alone above all others because it represents EXACTLY what our founding fathers had in mind. Most times we are rock and roll group-sometimes rowdy, often humorous, very defensive about this website and incredibly willing to pound bricks for our beliefs. And without a doubt, we usually give liberals a quality bashing.

All the pain & grief we feel seems to be expressed in his eyes.

He called his autobiography...."A Charge to Keep"....I believe he will keep it by the Grace of God!

Someone sent me an email with this One Sentence yesterday:

If God brings you to it; He will see you throught it.

Dear God...please give our President and the families strength & your comforting Grace.

The most beautiful thing about this particular choice of scripture is that it comes from the old testament, therefore can be fully shared by the Israeli families as well.

God Bless our President.

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. Please know that your words mean alot to me. I am very proud of what the FReepers did at the MFJ and as for that other incident you mentioned, well, I wear it as a badge of honor and I hope that it caused the man we will "never understand" to rethink some things.

Although I don't always post here, rarely does a day go by that I don't at least check this thread. This thread is a daily reminder that our country finally has a godly man in charge again.

Tonight's pictures show that there is obvious distress in the eyes of our President, but we should all be comforted in knowing that he is strengthened by his faith and the prayers of soooooooooooooooo many. He is careful to take care of himself and he has a wonderful wife who makes sure he does!

I am confident that he is as prepared as possible to get us through the storms ahead.

I agree...it has really torn at my heart lately and I have had to keep my outrage in check (at least as much as that is possible). I have truly had it with daschle, kennedy, the klintons, levin, kerry and on and on. Pretty soon I am not going to be able to even look at them (as I cannot abide to see klinton's mug without revulsion), already I cringe at the sound of their voices.

And I know what you mean about wanting our President to 'know' and 'feel' and be 'uplifted' by our prayers. Sort of like ya want him to know how much we respect him and stand behind him. Me, too. I think I am going to ask our Father about that tonight.

Nothing wrong with good old-fashioned, rowdy, rock-n-roll; and any day I get to "give a liberal a quality bashing" is a good day....LOL
