Perhaps I just don’t understand this whole PEACE thing. Did the definition of the word change, or is somebody just blowing a lot of smoke?

Bump!

So in response to your question, I guess it would just depend on what its followers deem worthy of pride.

I tend to agree with you. Although I have never read the Koran, I always wonder if there are any devout Muslims that aren't consumed with hubris and hatred and envy. These days it doesn't seem like it. It seems like there ought to be and possibly some theologans that can make the scriptures say they are accepting and decent.

I should make a slight disclaimer here and state that I am a practicing Catholic. These days we have a glass house or two about, although I've never heard ANY homily suggesting that the kids in the parish ought to strap on some dynamite and go blow up some pagans.

I should also note that if I were alive at the time of the Borgias, and educated enough to see what was happening, I'd likey have converted and followed Martin Luther.

Finally, I always thought it would have been the best of good humor to strap inquisitors to the rack, put them through the paces and, then, half drown them. It would be the best of fun to see the look on a face of a torturer, when he is on the receiving end. Those already tortured could be the ones to show them what it's like.

The Catholic Church has a wart ot two in it's history when it simply turned its back on the Gospels, and the entire new testament. Yet somewhere along the way it has matured or tried to into a religion of decency, at least. That may be a never ending struggle, but you have to start somewhere.

Sure, all churches have problems. We are human and we are fallible. But you don't see other Christians cheering whenever another Catholic priest falls. You don't see Christians trying to justify the behavior or worse, condone it. The fundamental difference between Christianity and Islam is this. As I said before, Islam is built on the twisted delusions of a self-absorbed, warmongering pedophile with serious control "issues", a self-proclaimed prophet who was imperfect in every way and who lived and died. Christianity is built upon the perfect foundation of Christ. He became like us that we could be made perfect in Him. He died for our sins so that we would not have to and He lives so that we may have eternal life in Him.

One might visit the tombs of either Mohammed or Jesus, but only one of them is unoccupied.
