Yes, that Dennis Miller, although, actually, I don't remember him being extraordinarily tough on either Bush. He used to be much more liberal, of course, but he never hit either Bush particularly hard. He hit them in that Johnny Carson way, the above-it-all sort of way, where the comic just hits everyone in a position of power without necessarily indicating strong political beliefs about the hit one way or another.
Since 9-11, he is pretty darn conservative. Oh, he couldn't be a RNC staffer or anything, but for an entertainer, he's pretty far right.
His old HBO show questioned the liberals enviro-fetish, for example. "Why do I have to pay extra for gas just so some caribou don't have to look at a pipe?" he demanded of an enviroweenie.

No... more! More!
I'm stealing these jokes to use at work today. :D

Doughty,
You're mishearing.
What you posted doesn't even make sense. Why would "everyone in this town" (i.e., L.A., the third or fourth most liberal city in America) get all over Miller for saying he's NOT a fan of Bush?
Does that make sense?
Compare with the Miller transcript on an earlier Jay Leno appearance. How does he go from "Bush is a good man, a decent guy, a regular guy, he's reestablished my faith in government" to "I'm not a Bush fan"?
To: Jeff Chandler
I think parenthood changes him - you're right.
BTW, glad to see Santana and Michelle Branch - love the song, and she's cute as a button. Nice change from the Christina Aguilera types.

Okay you guys, I'll have the seven minute segment of audio up in about an hour. That will be about 1:45 a.m. p.s.t.
To: Warhead W-88
What he is saying is that they go crazy with glee. Wait till I get the audio up. I'll even put up the video if you can't determine this issue with the audio alone.
To: Warhead W-88
I don't want the bad guys to have the next move.
Good line.

And BTW...Welcome to FreeRepublic! Only unforgivable rule I've figured out so far is NEVER post anything more than 3 seconds old to "Breaking News"...This is a fast-paced, cutting edge site :-) Regards...lainde.

What I was infering was that it might help to be able to see his lips move. I very carfully watch him during about ten different viewings as I transcribed that short sequence. There's really not doubt in my mind what he said. It isn't all that important. Let's wait for the audio.
To: DoughtyOne
"You know what, I'm not a Bush fan. I know you say that in this town and everybody like goes crazy,..."
The first sentence is counter to the second. Saying you are NOT a Bush fan in LA would be roundly applauded. It would not make people crazy.

Well, I don't have a copy of the thing, but your reading just doesn't make sense. The guy is already on record as being a Bush fan. Again, see the previous transcript.
"He makes me proud to be an American again." Sounds like a fan to me.
How about, "I'm NOW a Bush fan"?
To: Warhead W-88
Look, he means "people in this city go crazy with PC anger" if you say you're a Bush fan.
The man is a Bush fan. That's the little bit of evidence you keep sort of stumbling over, a bit like Blix bumbling around the desert. He already SAID he was a Bush fan on his last appearance, so it doesn't make sense that he now says "I'm NOT a Bush fan," and then goes on to say good things about Bush.
To: Warhead W-88
You're right, it makes more sense and now and not could sound very similar.

Your post doesn't make sense to me. I'm not the one transcribing the show!

I'll never forget. The funniest stand up routine ever, "Mr. Miller Goes to Washington" on HBO. Many a moon ago. He was making fun of how 41 was anti-abortion but pro death penalty. "I guess it's all in the timing ay George?". I guess we can all change though...

Thanks, I was starting to feel like the lone American in an elevator full of French and Germans.
