I would like to ask for your comforting prayers and thoughts for a dear friend of mine, Shawna, who lost her 5 year old daughter, Zoe Skye to cancer on Friday, 01/24.
I am proud to have known Zoe. Before she was even born, I remember her mother Shawna being pregnant and telling me everything she was doing to plan for a baby, the questions she asked as I was pregnant right along with her. Our girls' are only four weeks apart in age.
I can't bring myself to make any sense right now, but please, if you can, pray for Shawna during this difficult time.
From todays' Albuquerque Journal:
Zoe Skye Wagner, 5, passed away peacefully at her home Friday, January 24, 2003 after a long struggle with cancer. She left this life with her mother and grandfather by her side. Zoe was born September 20, 1997 in Albuquerque. She is survived by her mother, Shawna Leigh Wagner; and grandfather, Jim"Papa" Wagner, both of Albuquerque; great-grandparents, Jim and Barbara Wagner and great-aunt, Debi Wagner Rupe and husband, Jary, all of Alamogordo. A bright and engaging child, Zoe brought joy and happiness to everyone whose life she touched. Her unique personality and charm were not easily forgotten. Zoe was the light of her mother and grandfather's life and while her physical presence in this life will be sorely missed, she will live in our hearts forever. Jim and Shawna would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Heideman and his staff at UNMH. Also to Dr. Bare, Stacey and Renee and to Lorraine of Odyssey Hospice. Private services and cremation have taken place. Farewell Little Punky, Farewell.

Prayers for the Zoe and her family.
I've never experienced anything worse than watching a young child die of cancer. This past year I lost a friend too. From neuroblastoma.
Abi's story.
Click on the history link and see how tough some of these little angels are. Abi fought to the bitter end.

Dear Sunflower, as the priest explained to me, my family and friends at my 18 year old daughters memorial service, GOD does not promise forever for anyone or anything. We all have a purpose to cone down to this world and when his plan is fulfilled we are returned to him, for all of us are his Children. We know not what that purpose was, but GOD does. The priest added, if you could stop the loss of this child would you. Would her life of more pain and suffering, which would certainly happen in my daughter case, be worth the loneliness we feel? Knowing the Love and care she had for for little children he continued, we all should clearly believe GOD needed her to take care of the many babies and children who had come back home to him.
....of course, the priest explained it much more eloquently than I can here, but it helped me tremendously in letting her go.

Good News For The Day
Love never fails ( 1 Corinthians 13:8)
"Love never fails because those who place themselves under its governance are beautified by it. If you have a friend, or family member that is committed to the love of Christ, you know that love never fails."
"If you know anyone, living in . . . bitter circumstances - - - and they have not grown bitter, you know love never fails."
"In the cut and thrust of public life, is there someone you know, who never repays evil for evil? Love does not fail. If you know someone who spends her days giving care to people who have no way of paying her back, you know love does not fail."
"There is a temptation to think of force and violence as strong, and love as soft and weak. The opposite is true. Violence always fails. It cannot achieve what it sets out to achieve. It makes no friends, builds no characters. On the contrary it disintegrates personalities. Was Ghandi weak? Was Mother Theresa weak? Was Christ weak?"
"Love never fails."

May the Lord wrap Shawna in His loving arms and give her the comfort that only He can. And may Zoe's family find some small measure of consolation in knowing that many people care and are lifting them up to the Lord. <><

Praying.
Having suffered through the loss of three children, my heart goes out to this family.
But my sympathy pales next to that of our Heavenly Father's care and concern.
