"Recently I have noticed a cooling of fervor among the media and talking heads on television. They are criticizing our president’s handling of the war and act as if we had already lost. It makes me want to throw up when I hear some self proclaimed intellectual or expert who barely has enough practical sense to tie his shoes criticizing people like Donald Rumfeld and Colin Powell who have been there and done that. These puffed up chowder heads know as much about fighting a war as a hog knows about an airplane. Yet they sit back in their lofty ivory towers and remind us every time a civilian gets killed in Afghanistan [and Iraq] what a terrible thing we’re doing to their country. Wake up you detestable gas bags, if this war goes on for ten years we’ll never kill as many Afghans [and Iraqis] as the Taliban [and Sodom'sInsane] has. We will be doing the Afghan [and Iraqi] people a tremendous favor getting rid of these self righteous thugs who beat women with sticks and execute anyone who doesn’t believe the same way they do. How dare you bunch of overeducated cabbage heads try to make the citizens of this country think that we’re losing the war in Afghanistan [or Iraq]. We’ve barely gotten started and if we were the same kind of people that you idiots are, the war would have been over the first couple of days because we would have dropped a couple of neutron bombs and come back home. But that’s not the kind of people we are. We are humane and caring and take every precaution we can to keep from hurting innocent people. It’s just a sad fact that there will always be innocent people hurt and killed in wars. It’s bound to happen but we don’t need you self aggrandizing pimple brains to keep on reminding us how deplorable it is. We know already. We know because of the carnage we suffered in New York and Washington on September 11th. When I see one of you draft card burning love and peace flower children spouting off about what we are doing in Afghanistan [and Iraq] or criticizing our government for their efforts on the home front I’d like to pick you up by the nap of yer soft neck and shake you like a bulldog shakes a RAT!! Don’t you people realize what you’re doing? Don’t you realize that there is nothing short of absolute victory acceptable in this war? Don’t you know or care that if we don’t finish this we will leave a world to our children and grandchildren a world we don’t even want to think about? Can you imagine a six year old kid carrying a gas mask to school? Our government is straining every nerve to protect us and eradicate the menace we face no matter what you think about it. And they don’t need a bunch of non combat arm chair generals telling the population that they don’t know what they’re doing. They know what they’re doing. I have been from coast to coast since the tragedy of September 11th and I find a totally different attitude among the hard working, tax paying, salt of the earth people of this country. They’re ready to fight, sacrifice and do whatever else it takes to defeat our enemy. You people are so out of touch with the vast part of the population of this nation. You live in an intellectually incestuous world. You never see anybody except each other and you wouldn’t know a sledge hammer from a plowshare much less the people who work with them. That ole boy from Texas ain’t going to give in to your incessant needling. He’s made of stouter stuff than the last poll propelled draft dodger who disgraced the Oval Office. Every time you doubt that this war is righteous take a look at the file footage of the Trade Towers coming down and think about the children whose mommies and daddies won’t be coming home anymore."

Fair enuff, my FRiend, but you mustn't allow yer cynicism to cloud yer rationality...there is NO WAY you can ever support the assertion that "Dubyuh is as Corrupt as Slick Willie" 'cuz it simply ain't true. I'm all fer shrinking the Federal Leviathan as fast and as long as necessary to get US back to the Constitutional Republic our Forefathers created, but the paradox is--absent a violent revolution--we need to work within the system to repair the system, and that will require US to trust a few political leaders or else git folks we trust into positions of Power. It is good to hear you trust Tancredo to some degree...perhaps there are others you can trust that you simply haven't gotten to know yet...Ron Paul comes to mind. And I think you would like my Congressman Eric Cantor and maybe even my Senator George Allen, Jr.

My point is that there has to be some strong emotions pent up inside of women who've had abortions and your noble efforts--well said, btw--tend to demonize the female when any potential converts probably already feel pretty bad about themselves BEFORE you started making them feel worse. "Lots of grumbling lately about deleted posts. Well, my friends, the simple truth is the game has changed. We are now at war. We have been attacked by a vicious cold-blooded force of international terrorists who want to destroy our nation, our freedom and our way of life. There is no doubt about this. Knowing this, I am alarmed to read some of the stuff that has been posted to FR in the last few days. This is not the time to raise doubts about our leaders. This is not the time to raise conspiracy theories. This is not the time to second guess our intelligence agencies. This is war. This is survival of our way of life. We must unite behind our Commander-in-chief and do all we possibly can to support him and our war efforts. We do not have a choice in this matter. The terrorists who attack us do so without warning and without mercy. They do not want peace. They do not want to co-exist. They do not want appeasement or negotiation. They want to destroy us. They want to destroy our way of life. They want to destroy our freedom. They want to destroy our nation. They have no conscience, no respect for life, no compassion and will give no quarter. Death of the USA is what they seek.
Many of us on Free Republic are veterans or have family members who are veterans or who are currently serving in the military. We have each sworn a solemn oath to defend our Constitution and our nation. We will not waver in the face of adversity and we will not shirk our responsibility or fail to do our duty. Regardless of our political differences, we will join together to support our nation and to crush our common enemy.
All of us can help out. There will be opportunities coming for volunteers for all sorts of wartime activities. There will be opportunities to help our men and women in uniform, our civil defense efforts, our war production efforts, giving blood, buying war bonds, cooperating if there are shortages, supporting our leaders and generally supporting the war effort.
There will also be precautionary measures. First and foremost on this forum and elsewhere is to respect the fact that we deal in political information. Many of us may personally gain access to sensitive information that could harm our military or our war efforts if it falls into the wrong hands. If you live or work in an area where you may learn of troop movements or war plans or if you have family members or friends who may have access to this information, please do not spread it around. We will be on the lookout for any "Loose Lips" info and will delete it when spotted on this forum. Now, information that is already printed in the newspapers may or may not fall into this category. Usually, published information is fair game to post. But, please be careful in what discussions may follow.
Also, as I said above, it is essential for all of us to unite behind our President. Now is not the time to seek political advantage. Now is not the time to raise doubts about our government or our military, and now is not the time to post conspiracy theory or to engage in smear attacks. And, no, my finely feathered, tinfoil-hatted friends, we did not do this to ourselves. The U.S. government did not start this war. We were victims of an unprecedented, pre-meditated surprise attack, perpetrated by hostile, cowardly foreign parties. This attack may not have been in the military scale and scope of a Pearl Harbor, but in terms of lives lost and impact on the nation and the world it is every bit as severe.
Even so, we have confidence. We know that our nation is the strongest in the world and that our people are resolved to do whatever it takes to win. We've done it before and we will do it again. This is our heritage. Securing the blessings of liberty for ourselves and our posterity in the tradition of our forefathers is our duty and obligation. And I have faith that with God's blessings, we will rid the world of this evil threat.
