Well, where does one start on some of those feminist quotes?
The war in Afghanistan could not possibly offer a chance to liberate women from their oppressors, since it would simply expose women to yet another set of oppressors, in the gender feminists view.
Sara Ruddick, author of Maternal Thinking, is perhaps one of the most influential spokeswomen for the position that women are instinctually peaceful.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Spivaks phrase, a great favorite on campus, points to the postcolonial notion that brown men, having been victimized by the West, can never be oppressors in their own right. If they give the appearance of treating women badly, the oppression they have suffered at the hands of Western colonial masters is to blame. In fact, the worse they treat women, the more they are expressing their own justifiable outrage. Can we say...IDIOT?

Having rejected the patriarchal liberal nation-state, with all the democratic machinery of self-government that goes along with it, the utopian concludes that there is only one way to achieve her goals: to impose them through international government. Utopian feminists fill the halls of the United Nations, where they examine everything through the lens of the gender perspective in study after unreadable study. (My personal favorites: Gender Perspectives on Landmines and Gender Perspectives on Weapons of Mass Destruction, whose conclusion is that landmines and WMDs are bad for women.) PING!

At the same time, though, the issue of womens rights highlights two reasons for caution about the Islamic future. For one thing, no matter how much feminists might wish otherwise, polygamy and male domination of the family are not merely a fact of local traditions; they are written into the Quran itself. This in and of itself would not prove to be such an impedimentthe Old Testament is filled with laws antithetical to womens equalityexcept for the second problem: more than other religions, Islam is unfriendly to the notion of the separation of church and state. If history is any guide, theres the rub. The ultimate guarantor of the rights of all citizens, whether Islamic or not, can only be a fully secular state. Ping

"As Gloria Steinem informed the audience at a Florida fundraiser last March: The cult of masculinity is the basis for every violent, fascist regime. "
How exactly does this justify her affairs with men through the years and her SHOCKING! marriage to, yes, a MAN a couple of years ago? It's so perplexing.
Saving this thread to finish reading the article later.

Sara Ruddick, author of Maternal Thinking, is perhaps one of the most influential spokeswomen for the position that women are instinctually peaceful. According to Ruddick (who clearly didnt have Joan Crawford in mind), thats because a good deal of mothering is naturally governed by the Gandhian principles of nonviolence such as renunciation, resistance to injustice, and reconciliation.
She clearly didn't have Hilliary Xlinton in mind, either

"The cult of masculinity" is also responsible for almost every scientific advance and every great work of art. It's the old 'masculine' impulse for knowledge and mastery over 'feminine' nature. Camille Paglia (a writer whose work I've come to disparage for other reasons; mostly her worship of a particularly empty-headed popular culture) put it quite succinctly (and I'm paraphrasing): "If women had been in power for the last few millennia, we'd still be living in grass huts."

The one thing all these "feminists" seem to have in common is an inability to think. I guess thinking is what MEN do, and must therefore be avoided at all costs.
The level of stereotyping these "feminists" engage in is breathtaking, obnoxious, and INCREDIBLY offensive.

the husband of Zahida Perveen, a 32-year-old pregnant Pakistani, gouged out her eyes and sliced off her earlobe and nose because he suspected her of having an affair. That would be this poor woman:
Why do feminists refuse to condemn Islam in stronger terms? The answer is as chilling as it is twisted and evil:
Because feminists see any total condemnation of Islam as giving tacit approval of Christianity--and that they cannot do.

Feminism is the gender equivalent of racism. Belonging to NOW should be looked at just as belonging to the KKK. Race and gender have nothing to do with any of the world's problems - only education can change anything.
I like the comparison of the burqa and a bikini! What idiots. But then, the women who complain about the bikini would never be able to wear one - that's why they complain.

I find it interesting that in a free society, one would be able to choose between a bikini and a burqua. The left wing feminists are offended with freedom of choice, and see their spiritual kin requiring the burqua as an extension of their position to prevent the choice of the bikini.
I am still in shock over the transformation of good old comfortable jeans to the nymphette "pull down my pants" clothing of choice. I have a 5 year old and have such trouble finding properly modest clothing. The best answer I have found: old clothes from the Salvation Army and other thrift stores. Some of these are 20 years old, and hence predate the current "undressed at all times" culture.

I scanned through & read the bold sections, but couldn't proceed following the intense wave of nausea which swept over me... I've bookmarked, however, for future reading whenever I feel that I can handle the torment..
