Washington-AP) -- Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton will join the Senate Committee on Armed Forces.

Clinton, who has already been a member of the Budget and Environment committees, joins the Armed Forces Committee at a time when the United States military faces a possible war with Iraq, a nuclear standoff with North Korea, and the ongoing threat from al Qaida.

The committee's jurisdiction includes all the national security programs at the Department of Defense, as well as the nuclear programs at the Department of Energy.

She is the first New York senator to serve on the committee since it was formed in 1947.

Clinton said now she ``will be better able to support New York's military bases and ensure that New York's defense industry continues to play a significant role in fulfilling the needs of our armed forces.''

New York State is home to a number of important installations, including the military academy at West Point and Fort Drum, where the 10th Mountain Division trains.

If they would actually execute Senators for treason, I wouldn't feel as sick as I do right now.

The question that must be answered here is whether or not she actively sought this assignment (which would indicate a further feminization of the military), or was urged to take it by an anti-military Democrat leadership determined to pull Bush's tail.

Bill Clinton gutted and demoralized our military, forcing them to be international diplomats and police, Hillary joins the Armed Services Committee to add insult to injury...

I want to know how a junior Senator with just 2 years in the Senate gets this kind of position. Instead of "Serving" on the Armed forces Committee, She should be "Serving" a prison sentence

I am taking a wild guess but I think she actively sought this assignment. She wants to build a reputation in the Senate and in New York. The more she can take on the better for her. She is planning something in 2008 - either a run for president or a run for Governor of New York State.

She's a beauty...have seen her with my own eyes....along with an up-close-and-personal tour of her pal out of Everett, the USS Lincoln (which is shipped out now).

Just what she needs for her WH run. She told Daschle to make it happen and he did dutifully.

It is sickening news. This appointment has nothing to do with NY, but everything to do with her personal desire to destroy this president. She is a vindictive witch with an ambition that exceed anything most normal people could possibly fathom.

Just wait until the photo-ops of Hildebeast standing proudly beside members of the military on aircraft carriers and near battlefields. All for the presidential TV ads!
