The Democrats are in the process of shutting down the Senate to stop the GOP from chairing Senate hearings.
This is going to be two years of total war. Let's see if the media notices!

Because the Dems only gained 51 seats when a Republican left the party and became an independent... The Republicans won a majority by election in 2000 and in 2002.
Lott decided that since it was 50-50 they decided to split everything half and half. The Dems decided against another reorg resolution when Jeffords switched... that's not the Republicans fault...

No, Hatch was only considered if we lost in November. We was our "safe" pick.

I think that he might get a nomination to be CJ if Scalia doesn't want it..... I think you're right.

Gregg has been in elected office here since before Reagan was president. He didn't just fall off the turnip truck.

Frist needs to submit funding for 2/3:1/3. After the Dems filibuster for a few hours, resubmit funding for 3/4:1/4. If they filibuster again, resubmit funding for 7/8:1/8, etc. I like your thinking! hehe

You are very lucky to have him as a Senator. I have been fortunate to have Phil Gramm. Maybe I should say - REPUBLICANS are very lucky to have him. He needs to be on some of these talk shows.

I'm not following you....can you elaborate?...UTAH Gov is GOP so the seat is safe......Bush will get 2 SC nominations this year, I believe....and some of the candidates may need a little seasoning.....a little time in grade.....and a bigger Senate majority......I think if the CJ really wants to step down now.....W would name Hatch.....

"WE WILL HOLD UP PRESCRIPTION Medication Legislation" - U.S. Senate Democrats, January 14, 2003
That'd make a sweet billboard campaign, especially in places like Florida.
To: mathluv
He's Chairman of HELP-- rather than Ted Kennedy.
He'll be a major spokesman for the medicare changes and the prescription drug benefit. Tort reform may fall under here, too.
