The Democrats are in the process of shutting down the Senate to stop the GOP from chairing Senate hearings.

This is going to be two years of total war. Let's see if the media notices!

The person on the floor now says that the Democrats only want the same rules that were in existence in the last session. Now I'm joining this late so bare with me, why isn't that true?

The Dems had plurality control. A 50-50 split was fair. We now have majority control. 50-50 isn't fair now.

History is being made today. The democrats are going to change the apportionment precedent in the congress.

The senate Minority Whip just threw down the gauntlet...

"We Are Dug In... We Are Not Going To Bend"

"We Were FAIR to the Republicans, they should be FAIR to us"

WE WILL HOLD UP PRESCRIPTION Medication Legislation because we are Dug In and we will Blame it on you!!

Good gawd

Ummm- I can't bare with you- I am in the office and it is only 18 degrees outside, both of which prevent me from baring much of anything.
Sorry.

Did you hear Reid earlier say that the 108th Congress was a special situation, because Wellstone died?....Really, he said that.....

Did he just say that some Dem staffer said back in October that if the Dems won, they were going to go back to the original funding, but that if the GOP won, they were going to fight to keep it at 50-50?

I thought he was quoting a Roll Call article saying that if it were another even split (or 51-49) they'd push for 50-50, but if they picked up another seat or two, then they'd push for 2/3 - 1/3.

This "fairness" argument is wearing thin. They only got the 50-50 because neither side had a majority. When Reid first started making his case, he was referring the previous Senate being 51 Democrat to 49 Republican, and now it is 51 Republican and 49 Democrat. He is mistaken, it was never 51 Democrats.

This time around, Republicans have a true majority, which should change everything from last time.

Could be. Actually, I've thought for some time Hatch would be a good pick, because as a Senator he'd be harder to Bork. But then I thought the same thing about John Tower for Defense Secretary and the Senate sliced and diced him.

A sad day for Nevada. Senator Reid is an embarrassment.

Did I just hear Reid say "the elections of last November do not matter!"

I CANNOT STAND THIS MAN!!!

So, I guess what the Dems are saying is that if the GOP had 60 seats and they had 40, we would still split everything 50/50. Get real.

Then by extension, if every RAT senator died, it would be VERY special...

They had a memo from a RAT staffer saying that if they won an additional seat, they were going back to 2/3 for the Majority and 1/3 for the Minority.

This is going to backfire on the RATs.

Sen Gregg is doing very good! He is on a roll!

I just got a return call from the press office at Sen. Frist's DC office. Sen. Frist is going to stand up to the RATS. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson apparently intercepted an e-mail from Daschle to the other RATS dated Jan. 2. They planned this obstruction right from the start.

Good work! And thanks for the info!
