A chilling, painstakingly detailed plot by Muslim extremists to blow up a terminal at JFK Airport, a gas station nearby and a city clerk's office has been uncovered, authorities said. "As of early January 2003, a group of activists was planning to attack Kennedy Airport and two other targets in the New York City area," says a terror bulletin issued by the NYPD on Sunday...

Customs said the terrorists - members of a group called Algerian Tahir bin Ammar al-Yusifi - were supposed to infiltrate the United States from Ontario, Canada, and use Albany as their launching pad. Interesting info in this article. NYPD put out a bulletin, so there might be something to it. Albany?

A group of "activists".a terrorist is simply a more active form of an activist.

From the article:
U.S. Customs notified the FBI, NYPD and other authorities of the possible plot, although it acknowledged its source was of "unknown reliability" and therefore called the threat "low credibility."
Another swarthy male in custody trying to save his ass?

If this is verified, the President should specifically address it in reminding the people that others have declared war on US, that this is a dangerous time.

Just begin to imagine what it may be like, if and when the terrorists begin doing some damage this side of the Atlantic. What will we do with a the social norms and impositions bestowed upon us by liberalism?

How dare you insult these peace-loving refugee freedom seekers by referring to them as "activists"...!

OMG, I can't believe the bulletin actually refers to these people as "activists..."

"What will we do with a the social norms and impositions bestowed upon us by liberalism?"May we all sleep better knowing that Hillary Clinton is on the Senate Armed Services Committee, and that the terrorists are more among us than ever before! Liberals and terrorists hate America.

There is a compelling article from a source not permitted on Freerepublic that describes an al Qaeda operation to smuggle 37 man portable surface to air missiles into Canada prior to 9-11.
If the information in this article is true concerning the Soviet-made Strela-3 and Igla-9 smuggling operation, it is clear the U.S. needs to be doing more now to safeguard departure and arrival corridors at U.S. airports prior to commencement of the war against Iraq.
If the information is accurate, I believe the National Guard should be planning and training for an operation to secure departure and arrival corridors before the first use of these missles.
Additionally, the U.S. should be moving forward on equipping our airliners with the active counter measures that are available and in use today.
Since the information is so important that is presented in the article that can not be posted on Freerepublic, I would suggest anyone interested in information on the reported al Qaeda MANPAD smuggling operation to perform a google search using the following terms:
FBI Agent Ted Gunderson Strela

The missiles optical seeker contains a logic selection unit to enhance system's acquisition capability when engaging targets using IR decoys. A man-portable electronic plotting board serves as the target designator for the IGLA system. It acquires data from automated theatre-range AD control posts and displays location, direction and identity of aerial targets within a 12.5 km distance. The plotting board is able to track up to four targets. The system can be interfaced with an IFF interrogator.

Thanks for the #15.
As for your suggestions, I think I read that they are already being considered.

Thanks for the info, honway. Ted Gunderson's name rings a bell from long ago FR days.

SUmmer 2001 -- i believe there were arrests in an FBI sting operation where Pakistanis and Arabs were busted for attempting to buy missiles etc for 'export'.
