Didn't Hillary have it out with Tubby Kennedy about having the Dim convention in NY vs Boston?

This is W's style. When he's got the democrats on the run, with their backs to the Hudson river, he woun't relent until they are all under water. Will W's compassion take over, and throw the drowning rats a life preserver? That, we will have to wait, and see.

That's exactly what I've said. Bush may or may not win New York, but the symbolism all over the rest of the country will be great. It will subtly recall the glory days at ground zero and the great scene with the rescue workers shouting "USA! USA!" that Oriana Fallaci has captured so well in "Anger and Pride."
I hadn't thought about its being in Hillary's face too, but the idea gives me considerable pleasure.

He couldn't win NY if Sharpton was running against him. I know - I live here.

New York City is the best choice for the GOP & GWB!

He couldn't win NY if Sharpton was running against him. I know - I live here Well, let's think it through a little further.
Can the Dem nominee win if Sharpton is given the bums rush by the Dem Primary process or if Sharpton runs as an independent? If Sharpton is the Dems national nominee, won't his liberalism spell their doom with or without NY?
Now, I will admit, I find a NY victory a very uncertain thing for GWB, but he certainly will run better than last time in your state IMHO.

It can't be done but Pataki does it. And Sharpton will not be the nominee. If Sharpton runs third party dems can forget it. Nice thought, isn't it?

Yeah, think of it -- the entire Democrat brain trust is constantly being outmanuevered by that simpleton and mental midget, George W. Bush. What does this make the Democrat brain trust....
As an aside, in regard to the article, I don't think Reagan won New York state twice...only in 1984 (where he won just about everything).

Opps, my mistake. Reagan indeed won NY in 1980.
A fun site to check these things out at is the "Electoral College Calculator" found at http://www.jump.net/~jnhtx/ec/ec.html

Bush can't carry New York City, obviously, unless the Democrats nominate Rocker, but he might have an outside chance of carrying the state. Reagan carried New York state by more than half a million votes in 1984--Mondale had wide margins in 4 of the boroughs of NYC, but lost practically all the other counties (he narrowly carried the counties which include Buffalo, Albany, and Ithaca). Has the state become that much more inhospitable to Republicans since 1984? Bush carried 35 counties in the state in 2000--mostly rural counties.

It's also simply downright appropriate to hold it in NY this time around. For better or for worse, that is the state, the city, that suffered the brunt of the worst shock this country had ever had since Pearl Harbor.
