DO NOT ENTER THIS THREAD!!!! It will contain vulgar materials in moments. We have a disrupter on the forum. We have alerted the management and they will be taking down some very inappropriate materials ASAP. This is more than likely a federal crime. It will be reported. I appologize on behalf of the forum management. Sadly, there are some pretty sick people out there. DoughtyOne

It depends on who he offended here this morning Sign me up for being totally offended.....and for his having exposed my daughter to porn, against my will.
To: MinuteGal
well, I have been here since 98 too, and never posted, nor abided porn, however, PUT UP THE LAST OF ALL THE BANNED STUFF OR SHUT UP.

You're right, the pictures would never actually appear on his screen; however, they would be logged into the computer's temporary internet files. Since porn is virtually made up of image files, couldn't the cafe's administrators essentially look at image files that have been stored on the system before the customer leaves? I realize the first ammendment ramifications, but this scenerio is not much different from having photographs developed and, in turn, viewed by the film processors. The posters of hideously offensive material like we saw this morning should not be protected from prosecution by the anomynity afforded by public internet cafes.

I'm sorry to hear your daughter saw that smut, nic. My stepson was taking a shower while I was perusing the Breaking News threads. He never even knew about it.

Snivelling boob.

My suggestion would be to prevent all new users from automatically getting read-write privileges until they've been lurking for about a month. Agree. And then the first (pick a number) posts be closely monitored. Agree, with both ideas. If you notice (as I'm sure the Admin Moderators have, and do their best), everyone who does this just signed up. We don't have long time members all of a sudden go postal. It's always, I've noticed, someone who signed up that very day, or, at most, within the past few days of signing up.

The only reason you would need specific guidlines for posting is if you wanted to push the envelope to its extreme end.
Are you looking for the extreme limits or just making noise?
If neither and you just happen to like a book of rules, you're out of luck. Police yourself. Use good judgement.
AND STOP CRYING FOR THE RULE BOOK! Our rule book is a living and breathing document!
To: XBob
Nobody said you posted or abided porn, so don't attempt to insinuate it. As for the last part of your previous sentence, you're becoming incoherent.....so, ciao for now.

Number 1, the scenerio he suggested would leave no pictures in the cache.
Secondly, with the number of customers these place have, and even if the mgmt. cared about such things, what would stop the customer from leaving and what would they do if they found them?
You're assuming that everyone is concerned with this kind of stuff, and that is a false assumption IMHO.

and when I asked for a list of banned topics, I got:
"No thanks. Has been discussed until we're all blue in the face."

Well, so much for trying to solve the world's problems for one day. It's just that I've never seen anything so vulgar in my forty something years and didn't realize I could be shocked or repulsed like that. Thanks for the reply.

Let's start with this:
Vulgarity, pornography, threatened or implied violence, racism, bigotry, spam, advertising, personal information, libel, encouraging criminal activity, and posting information which could be dangerous to the safety of our armed forces (troop deployment information, etc), and leftist propaganda.
Also, if a person continually goes out of their way to cause flame wars, they will probably be taken out by Jim.
Also, anything posted by a previously banned individual who manages to get a new account is subject to being removed, regardless of content, when the new account is discovered.
Thanks, AM

Well, she even asked me, "what site are you on?" because I'm almost always on FR....which I then told her, "I'm on FR, but someone is posting porn...I'm reporting him." She then said "that's gross." I felt like I was forgiven by her when I told her where I was (not on a porn site, but on FR).

"Snivelling boob."
Interesting - I think that is one of the things the rules ban, and yet it remains.

I think that if FR's standards mean anything, then steps should be taken to prosecute the pervert who posted the images.

All sounds good to me...especially the "leftist propaganda" idea...lol!

we used to be self policing - now we have police. When you have self policing, you dont need 'laws', when you have police, you do.
