Having never been to an Internet cafe, I wonder what their policies are with respect to pornography. I assume one could walk by a view what is on another's screen. Too bad there is not a system in place to prevent this type of trash being posted from public IPs.

Well, the place I'm talking about has like 250 terminals and no oversight whatever...

I tried it a couple of years ago when they first fired it up and each terminal is fully functional Windows on a T1 network.

What are the FFR guidelines? I have been unable to find any lately that are regularly adhered to. All kinds of threads and posts are pulled all the time now by the 'moderators'.

I am going to assume that you honestly do not know where the posting guidelines are, and are not just trying to troll us. The posting guidelines are clearly outlined at http://www.freerepublic.com/help.htm . And no, while there is no written rule that clearly states "You may not post pictures of a man inserting his fist into an animal's rectum," such posts are considered to be disruptive or off-color by the owners of the site and are nuked when discovered. Such posts might also be illegal depending on the community standards of the venue where they are posted, and are certainly subject to being forwarded to the authorities.

I protested one on a discussion of racism, and it was pulled. and when questioned, and i asked for guidelines on FR, JR said essentially - 'shutup'.

JR's site, JR's rules. Go elsewhere if you don't like it.

If the toad had the URLs of the pix in hand, all he would have to do is type the HTML coding, click the "I have already previewed" box and hit Post. He'd never have to actually have the pix on his screen.

Agreed; but it would be neat to see this guy, or others like him, to have to visit every locale and answer to whatever charges may be brought.

As for a sign-up fee, think that would kill FR, even though I think it would be acceptable to those of us who care. There are other ways of verification to allow posting privileges, as this is still a private venture with public access.

I finally found 'smokey back room', but I have never found 'chat', do you know where it is?

Many posts are simply deleted, many moved. There seems to be no coherenent pattern.

I can find no consistent guidelines for posting, as those on the FFR home page are not followed.

Oh, it was very, very bad. I went to a thread, and there it came up; she was walking by and saw it, right there, before I knew it or could do anything about it. And it was plastered over so many threads....even ones with God in it. Truly, truly despicable behavior to post they way he did. It was totally disgusting.

It is not unreasonable to think that there will lapses in coverage from time to time. You have nothing to appologize for. An ill person gained access to the public forum and vandalized it.

You shouldn't have to be there to block such activity. It is sad that you do. I will talk to you later.

sorry - the posting guidelines are far different than the minimal rules of etiquite listed there under rules. Many many more are pulled for not being PC.

Administration and moderation of Internet public chat boards always has an element of capriciousness in my experience, but FR seems to be more tolerant and consistant than most of the boards I've been involved with, and I've been hangin' out round these parts since 98' like you...
