I think a big one would be that the media (even fox) never calls politicians on their lies about "cuts."

Hmmm... Well, I could have titled the Thread "Historical Facts That Most College Students Would Guess Wrong", but I really didn't want the predictable "all of them" style of responses. I was desiring more historical facts; the type of facts that would contradict the prevailing generally accepted views.

For instance, Democrats are constantly calling for the elimination of our embargo on Cuba, yet the press acts as though they would be surprised to learn that it was a Democrat who put that embargo in place to begin with.

That sort of thing...

Al Sharpton is both a nitwit and a politcal opportunist. However, the Democratic frontrunner in the late summer of '04 is still gonna have to kiss his ring and his arse. Promises of an Ambassadorship ought to bring him into the fold, with Al holding out as long as possible to get past the Nauru slot to maybe Grenada.

The guy that invented the Red, Yellow and Green traffic light was Black.

And most famous of all, "The Real McCoy"...

McCoy was a Black railroad worker and in those days they had to stop the train every, I don't know, call it 50 miles...

to oil the bearings and such, well McCoy figured a way to build a device that attached to the gearings and automatically oiled them and when it was seen to be successful, other companies started making 'knockoffs'...

and after that people started asking, "is that the real McCoy?" and that is how that got started!!

The Federal Reserve has nothing to do with the federal government ...its a private corporation...The founding fathers understood and debated the dangers of this... hence.. Art. 1 Sec. 8......Kennedy addressed this with Executive Order 11110
