My wife and I just finished "Band of Brothers" and "Guns of Navarone". Two WWII movies which we both enjoyed very much. Please post any recommendations that any of you have for more movies of the same ilk. Many thanks!

"To Hell and Back" staring Audie Murphy. The story of the most decorated hero of WWII fighting with my beloved 3rd Infantry Division. They're on their way to Kuwait as we speak. "Rock of the Marne" and FReep on!!!

I recently saw The Great Escape... again. Clearly
a classic: Steve McQueen, Richard Attenboro, James Garnar,
Charles Bronson, and others of note.

I just watched "Saving Private Ryan" for the 10th time. Enemy at the Gates, while not about American soldiers, is very good. And if I could please recommend a book, get "Ghost Soldiers" by Hampton Sides. It is a great book.

Enemy at the Gates (2001) starring Joseph Fiennes and Jude Law. Big budget European movie about Soviet snipers at the Battle of Stalingrad. Ed Harris played the Nazi sniper who tries to flush out his Soviet counterpart. This is available for rental at the video stores.

One of my favorites is "A Midnight Clear." Here is the IMDB page on it:
A Midnight Clear
Highly recommended -- I have seen it about 4 times, and it gets better every time.

I saw "SPR" at the theater, and it was the only time in my relatively long life that I left a theater sobbing uncontrollably.
I've never seen "The Longest Day." It's on my list, but I can't believe it compares to SPR.

The original "Tora, Tora, Tora" on DVD is an eye opener, for it was directed not by just an American, but by a respected Japanese director as well.
The time sequences are well done, many in the Japanese and American military have said it was well done, as painful as it was to watch, since so many scenes were taken of real stock footage.
The Pacific theater was opened by this one.
It's worth the few dinare or bucks or pounds, screw the Euro.
