OH WOW! The announcer said it was a bad call? Well, SURELY that should over-rule the referee's calls on the field.

That should be the final ruling, as though these booth jockies have no bias.....

Four shots from the 1 yard line without scoring is not the mark of a National Champion.....

Huskers will survive and regain prominence. No team in history has ever had as many back-to-back +9 win seasons (32), nor has there ever been a more consistent winner--with no losing seasons in between and no more than 4 losses in a season (and that was just a couple years ago). Mediocrity is not OK at Nebraska.

Ohio State's team reminds me of Nebraska teams. No major stars really, just no quit in them, and big hitters all. Loved the game tonight!

I've watched my last college football game as a result of this game

whatever....and there's lots of reasons for it, not just blown calls.....but, thats kind of a "baby out with the bathwater" thing. look, there are alot of blown calls, non-calls in every game. they tend to "even out", they really do! (and im still hurting over a blown call in a b-ball tourney game uk/unc, from YEARS ago!) :) peace

You're right. It was Defensive Holding on the receiver. First and goal from the two, not the one.

How many holding calls did you see in the whole game? The reason Dorsey didn't get sacked more was consistant holding by his line. When you've got your hand down the front of the inside of the Defender's pads, that's more than incidental. Clarret was held and turned to end the first drive. Winslow was a yard short of the first down on the Canes second touchdown drive (Clearly down on his back short of the 34, much less when his knee touched. slid on his back, and ball rolled up over his shoulder...which was where it was marked). Lots of little goofs.

The replays showed he didn't even touch the guy until the ball was way past the guy.

Replays showed he was holding him continuously from the time the play started until the ball was being thrown...then regained contact after the ball got there. Should have been Defensive holding - in the end-zone. Different penalty, basically same effect.

Holding a reciever is integral to pass interference. Maybe you can explain why the ref signalled "holding" and then "pass interference" one right after the other than?

Holding is before the ball is thrown, interference is after it is thrown.

especially the two first half interceptions that were hard thrown tipped Dorsey passes which Ohio had the fortune of having some lucky defender right there to intercept.

Two tipped, eh? No. Dorsey threw when he was getting sacked.

why the LATE flag, well after the play was over?

Because by and large they weren't calling UM for holding, even when they had their hands down the inside if the pads. Couldn't let the game end on that one.

Besides which, on Miami's first touchdown drive there was a critical 3rd down completion that was facilitiated by a blatant hold in the backfield that wasn't called.

In the play that MacGahee got hurt, there were two holds evident, one could have gone either way, the other was ridiculous. OSUs first drive: Clarrett got turned as the ball came to him and wasn't called. UMs second TD drive, Winslow clearly stopped well short of the first down, but the gave him to where he slid, plus to where he put the ball over his shoulder while lying on his back. OSU picked up a first down they shouldn't have too.

I thought he might be; at any rate I was referring to his career. I remember Jim Healy (sports radio out here, with tons of funny sound bytes) playing a tape of two Michigan sportscasters bemoaning the fact that "Bo's gonna lose another Rose Bowl"

As a Cleveland fan I'm an expert on bad calls. Browns fans have advanced degrees in dealing with referee judgment calls. Fact is, there were bad calls on both sides, and it is a part of the game. There were blatant holds by Miami early in the game which probably prevented scores and were not called.

Gamble had Miami defenders hanging on his shirt all night, including one long pass play where he was just mugged and nobody said boo. I can make a case that the only reason the overtime occurred at all is because Miami benefitted from blown calls all night long.

In any case, this particular call was not one of them.

At the end of the game Keith Jackson looked and sounded about as happy as Kellen Winslow Jr, but yeah he's an impartial observor right?

The one I feel sorry for is McGahee.

Absolutely. I hope he recovers from that. Some people are flexible enough that doesn't rip up too much, but many don't ever recover. Blech.

I was a bit worried about Dorsey when the line failed to block Willhelm too. Rang his chimes but good.

The Big 10 is very very tough. 5-2 in the Bowls. Repeats are never easy but we have the best coach.

No Big-10 team was going to win in the Orange bowl against a reasonably good team. Too hot and muggy. Tempe was in the low 60s with low humidity...OSU got a fair shake with the weather.

Actually, I believe it's Karma. Call it payback for all the years that we have been subjected to the school of thugs and poor sports (Miami). Remember Miami vs Penn State, when the PSU players showed up in suit and tie, and the Miami team showed up in "thugwear" - camo pants, t-shirts, and sunglasses? Please. Miami got what it deserves.

Not to mention the fact that DONNA SHALALA is the president of the school. That alone should be reason enough to root against them.......

Shoulda seen the USC-Iowa games: Off-side penalties where no one on either side moved; generally no identifying of who committed penalties; a random 1-3 yard variance in spotting of the ball compared to where the play ended...
