NFL style replay could not reverse that call. They can't reverse pass interference or holding calls.
It was a good call. The guy was held.

Turnovers killed Miami, especially the two first half interceptions that were hard thrown tipped Dorsey passes which Ohio had the fortune of having some lucky defender right there to intercept. They may not have scored in the first half if it hadn't been for those lucky plays. The team with the most points wins, and blaming Miami's loss on other than OSU's tremendous defense is whining.
When Miami was at the 1 yard line in the second overtime with first and goal, with the game on the line to tie, and got stopped 4 times, with no penalties called, what is your excuse?????>
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM???????
To: gswilder
BS!!!!! Ohio State is national champion..learn it...live it...love it!!!!!!!...stop being another florida whinner!
To: for-q-clinton
Now that is a more accurate analogy of what took place.
A sour-note ending, for sure, but like others said, there were other questionable calls on both sides.
I personally don't think either of these two teams could beat Oklahoma right now!

I said "holding" was an integral part of pass interference. See the section
Pass Interference, item (c) and (f) - both of which I would call holding.

It's over and Ohio State is National Champ. Miami is now the nobody they deserve to be. Time for you to get over it too.

Bump - Miami did get a break on a bad call that should have been a Buckeye first down with Jenkins at the sideline, then the punt, then the 17-17 all tie and then Miami up by 7 on to go down....

Miami would not have been a National Title contender if they played in a legitimate conference.
I have to agree with you. I think the Florida teams have been given a free ride for some time now. Michigan beats Florida, OSU beats Miami. FSU loses. I mean, really, what more evidence do we need?

****Hey, Miami only got a little bit hosed. They shouldn't have let OSU get that close. They made mistakes and let OSU stay in the game. OSU made them pay.****
Yes thats right...and what a play by Clarett to take that ball away after the miami player intercepted it...that was almost a 10 point turnaround...miami player could have gone for a TD and clarett took the ball and buckeyes got a FG out of it!
To: gswilder
I'm not an OSU fan, nor a Miami hater.
It was not even close to a bad call. The guy was held, seriously....not just chucked in the five yard limit. Lots of calls come from a ref with a better position to see the play. He was also held with two minutes to go like I said before. No call. Miami should never have gone into overtime.
Now that was a bad call....no-call.
To: gswilder
The ref CLOSEST to the play didn't call anything.Look again. He signaled "Pass Incomplete".

Florida, Florida State and Miami fans are alot like democrats...they never really lose...and if they did its because of the refs or someother silly reason! GO BUCKS!

Miami got hosed. No way was that pass interference in the first overtime. The game should have ended there. It was an Al Gore recount. Sounds like SoreLoserman!

Vegas deserves the screwing.

****Does FL always have sore losers?****
Yes....and they're the worst people in the world...almost as rude as the french!

As a Miami fan, I'm not real happy about that 4th and 3 "holding/pass interference" call. Personally, I think the call was bogus. The late flag was the dead giveaway for me.
Still and all, this was a great game and OSU deserves the championship, so no sore loser bullsh*t from me. You can't win a bowl game by turning the ball over five times, no matter how talented you are. Gimcrack late flag calls are part of the game. Both teams benefited: OSU by the late call, Miami by the officials ignorance of holding by the Miami secondary late in the game.
The one I feel sorry for is McGahee. His ligament injury will probably keep him in Miami for another year. Right now he's damaged goods and no amount of hype could make a pro-team risk a first round on him. So this may be salutary for him in the long run, giving him that final year to mature. Plus, he'll get to rehab in Coral Gables for the next three to four months.
Miami should have won this game, but they did not. They beat themselves, which should tell all of you just how awesome a team the Miami Hurricanes really are. So congrats to the Buckeyes. You didn't just win a National Championship, you beat the best.
However, beware. Hurricanes don't go away. They just go back to Spring Training to reload.
Be Seeing You,
Chris

I'm not a Florida whiner. I don't like Miami anymore than Ohio State. I was just hoping for a great game, which it was until the ref blew it in overtime. There were several questionable calls that I saw just in the second half. Most of them went Ohio States way. So Ohio State is Illegitimate National Champs - Go Buckeyes. The difference between this and the Florida recount.... Bush won Florida on every "replay/recount" that was done. Watching the replays on this one shows a different story. I agree that this one should have been close. Miami played poorly, but Ohio State didn't impress me either. I was just hoping for an exciting game. I told my son when OT started, "I just don't hope the refs decide the game". Unfortunately, they did. Yes, Miami could have still overcome it, but fair is fair. Miami really did win the game, I'm afraid to say.

OSU won with defense all year. Miami was supposed to blow them out. It's a game of inches afterall.

Hokies? The most overrated team in College football! Screw the Hokies!
