John Campbell just announced live on the Hugh Hewitt Show his candidacy for the U.S. Senate seat now filled by Barbara Boxer!

His Bio :

Assemblyman John Campbell is a fourth generation Californian. Born in Los Angeles, Campbell has lived in Irvine for over 24 years. He is an accomplished businessman and has a record of success in the state legislature.

For the past 24 years, Campbell has worked in the automotive industry in Orange County. He spent a majority of his career representing several automobile franchises including Nissan, Mazda, Ford, Saturn and most recently Saab. Campbell is also a Certified Public Accountant who, prior to his automotive career, was a tax accountant with Ernest & Young in Los Angeles.

During his first year in office, Assemblyman Campbell established himself as a legislative leader. Campbell advocated solutions to the 2001 energy crisis that balanced environmental and economic concerns. He partnered with Democrats to pass crucial pro-consumer legislation that limited unsolicited phone calls. He helped spearhead efforts to conform California tax law to federal tax reforms that enable Californians to save additional money for retirement and education.

In recognition of his leadership, he was appointed to the esteemed role of Vice Chair of the Assembly Budget Committee. John also serves on the Utilities and Commerce Committee and the Insurance Committee. It is because of his work in these areas that he had the honor of being the first freshmen legislator to receive the California Small Business Association/Roundtable Legislator of the Year Recognition.

John successfully advocated for community priorities, as well. He won legislative victories relating to the clean up of the Newport Upper Bay, coastal zone open space, and Corona Del Mar?s Vision 2004 project. The Los Angeles Times Daily Pilot placed him in its top 5 most influential community members in 2002.

Before being elected to the State Assembly in 2000, Campbell served on the board of directors of numerous professional and community groups and associations. He is currently a member of the Young Presidents? Organization and is a recent recipient of their Legacy Award. He is also a member of the National Republican Legislators Association and was their 2001 Freshman Legislator of the Year. John is also a member of Irvine Presbyterian Church where he sings in the choir.

Assemblyman Campbell continues a family tradition of public service. His great-grandfather, Alex Campbell, was elected to the California State Assembly in 1860 as part of Abraham Lincoln?s Republican ticket. Both his father and grandfather worked in the newspaper business, the latter as managing editor of the Los Angeles Herald.

Assemblyman Campbell received a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of California in Los Angeles and a Masters Degree in business taxation from the University of Southern California. John and his wife, Catherine, have been married for over 23 years and have two sons, Taylor and Logan, who both attend public schools.

Assemblyman John Campbell represents Aliso Viejo, Irvine, Laguna Beach, Laguna Woods, Lake Forest, Newport Beach and Tustin.

When runnning against a Dim named Boxer, should he "take the gloves off," or "put the gloves on"?

Boxer fights dirty. She sandbagged Matt Fong in the last two weeks of their electiom by dumping a long-held story of a campaign donation Fong made to an anti-gay group. Prior to that story Fong was ahead by 10+%, after the story Boxer squeaked ahead.

It was the same tactic that the Democrats used against Bush with 25 year old DUI story 3 days before the election.

Boxer was down there in Florida and the little girl (mouthpiece) for the State of Florida House of Representative, was doing the same little ditty, bouncie dance. It must be contagious...

Could be another left wing plague. Better buy some antibiotics.

Afteer 4 morte years of tax and spend liberals, he will be a very attractive candidate.

Gay Davis is actually paying welfare "families" to move out of his state to correct the budget. No joke. I think that was on Rush today.
If I remember correctly (I have noisy kids), he's sending them to Nevada?

No way will this guy be a senator,...

There are reports that he once passed gas!!..

Why, there are even reports that he -gasp- talked to someone who had an abortion...

And the second amendment???...reports may indicate that he once contemplated talking to a democrat about the very subject!!

Horrors, when asked to quote the Bible from cover to cover, he asked, "Why?", or so the third hand hearsay evidence indicates.... Heck, with this type of less than 1000 (one thousand) per cent dyed in the wool paleo/neo/fundie conservative credentials, might as well vote for boxer. There is less than a dime's difference between the two. And, we would be in a better position next time around with a REAL conservative candidate.

John Campell is running for Senate in the wrong state. The feminists and teachers' unions dominate the state with an iron grip. Conservatives can't win statewide in CA. The fact that a complete dork like Gov. Gray Davis can survive re-election proves how strong liberals are in CA. Probably the best person to defeat Sen. Boxer would be Rep. Mary Bono.

California Teachers Association is upset with Gray Davis. He promised pay raises and didn't get his payola pay off from CTA. Guess what? No pay raise for California Teachers!

He will lose. Remember, The peoples republic is the only state that went even further left during the election. This state is going to collapse under it's own liberal socialist weight within a decade.

If the Federal powers that be let it. Remember what Ronald Reagan used to quip (sarcastically): "If it moves, tax it; if it keeps moving, regulate it; if it stops moving, subsidize it." And left unsaid here is: "If there are voters to be had, pander to it."

His position on abortion, 2nd ammendment, and illegal immigration is a hell of a lot closer to ours then Boxer`s. For once, just for fun, could all the Republicans in California unite and get somebody elected?

I think we should crusade this candidate. This forum and its people could have a proufound impact on the sucess of this candidate. We could put an army of foot soldiers on the ground, banging on doors when it matters come election day.

If GW is strong next cycle...we could stuff Boxer once and for all...

I live in her neck of the woods too. Ground zero. Central Marin

Lets get this guy elected...

KSFO dittos to ya. I'm also at ground zero but I think there will be others with more name recognition running. Doug Ose, who is a congressman, Chris Cox and Mary Bono come to mind. I'm still behind Bo Derek though. Going from 2 term state assembly to US Senator seems like a tough sell to the middle. The rumor is that Boxer wants to run for Gov after Dufus leaves and would then appoint her successor. I really hope the state GOP gets it together by then. A conservative can win in CA but we need someone who doesn't drool on himself.
