My 30 month old manchild clings to my ankle like a probation/parole bracelet whenever I take out my frontloaders for cleaning or put on my real tree cammo for whitetail hunting.
I was 8 when I shot my first deer with a 20 gauge slug.
Little boys love guns. I keep all mine well hidden and locked away(bedside quick safe for the wheelguns) and he knows damn well that toy guns are not the same. It's instinctive I guess.....his obsession. I'll buy him a Red Ryder at around 6 or so and we'll work our way up from that depending on how he responds.
If he can be quiet, I'd take him into a shoothouse stand at 5 or so....just so he can get a feel for it.
One cannot overstate the importance of passing on firearms instruction and hunting to one's progeny in this day and age. Responsibly of course. In my day, guns and hunting were a given.

I figured you'd have snow from the weather maps. They are calling for some here as well manana and Christmas day. I was in the woods yesterday afternoon and a bunch of slickheads cavorted around my stand from 3:30 till 5:00....no tripods.
I'll be back out Sunday afternoon.....when non-quota hunts start again for 6 days. The fattest of those does would have been in my freezer. I could use one more.
Did I mention my 42 lb Mississippi bobcat? He's at the stuffer....6 inch tail. A vanity kill.....a rarity for me these days. Don't dare tell me how wonderful Bobcat stew is...lol. My Winchester Magnum frontloader with a 1.5X6 Khales is proving to be a real giddy-up rifle. I'd take a 200 yds+ shot at rest with Barnes copper JHP plastic base bullets in it and 3 Pyrodex pellets....never thought I'd say that about a frontloader, she shoots 1.5" groups at 100 yds.
Hope you're having a good Christmas!

The Wild Bunch remains a Western classic, but Director John Milius did the M97 right proud in The Wind and the Lion with Sean Connery starring, and Brian Keith, no less, not coming off too bad as President Theodore Roosevelt.
You have a good Christmas and New Years too. If you hear a real loud noise just before New Years, it's me getting a head start a time zone away in Memphis...Hey, Squantos; watch THIS....

The verbage of the ban was in the last Texas State Rifle Association publication. As I read it, it bans nailguns and Hilti-guns. I look forward to the raids on construction sites and the black eye it gives these idiots. (^;

The Wind and the Lion is also in my collection of movies for a snow day. Outstanding performance by all in that movie. Even the little socialist frogette Candice does well. Too bad her daddy's dummy was smarter than she is......

"Just what the hell do you hunt with that thing, buses?" Nah. Helicopters. Buses are too easy; they move too slow.
Since I seem to specialize in handguns, I felt this was the equivalent of one of those ".50 caliber sniper rifles which can bring down a helicopter with one shot," according to the L.A. Times.
I've wanted another big bore for some time; I have no justification or need for it. Got a .44 mag (Anaconda), which I love. I guess I've become a "collector", but on the other hand I sent some guns out of state (and plan to send others) and my gunsafe was feeling lonesome.
The funny part is I went into the store looking for a Beretta Neos (.22). "Months and months away," the dealer said. Would not even take a deposit or give an estimated date of availability. So the .480 caught my eye, oh no.
Also examined the "BFR" ($1,000 thank you) and decided that it was "too much gun." I suspect the .480 will be a handful.

The baby song was great ....we've all watched it repeatedly. My 2 year old gets a big kick out of it.
Glad the card made it. Not too shabby from here to there since Friday morning.

Now they have real guns that look like toys.
The loaded clip weighs more then the rest of the piece. Anyway, not something I would own. Not enought juice.

You know, before toy guns ever existed, kids were taught how to handle real ones. Maybe that's why there are so many gun accidents these days - not enough kids are taught the proper handling and use of real firearms. Then, when they're older and find themselves handling the real thing, they have no clue as to the difference between it and a toy.Ding ding ding! We have a winner! Its that lack of instruction to our nations youth, and the "forbidden fruit" syndrome, combining with criminal activity and the media-induced bloodlust, which is creating these juvenile delinquents.
Teach your children, your grandchildren, or your nieces and nephews proper firearms discipline as early and as often as they can stand it.
Three Rules For Safe Gun Handling
- Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
- Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
- Always keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.
Additional Rules
- Know your target and what is beyond.
- Know how to use the gun safely.
- Be sure the gun is safe to operate.
- Only use the correct ammunition for your gun.
- Wear eye and ear protection as appropriate.
- Never use alcohol or drugs before or while shooting.
- Store guns so that they are not accessible to unauthorized persons.
- Be aware that certain types of guns and many shooting activities require additional safety precautions.

A Wild Bunch photo cannot go unnoticed. Thanks!

His pupils are dialated beyond belief. He has probably gotten into some of the substances he has confiscated. If toy guns turn him psychotic, imagine what he does to speeders.
The guy needs to be evaluated by a headshrinker, he looks certifiable.
