BUSH AGENDA/SCORECARD-"THESE GUYS ARE GOOD"
12/22/02 | Chiller

PRES. BUSH'S SCORECARD, GOALS, & AGENDA
(SAVE for use against Bush Bashers)

It is becoming clear that 'W' and Karl Rove saw the big picture when they assessed all that's wrong and needed fixing from a conservative perspective. Many of these policies/decisions haven't received much attention. And not all are in the 'completed' column.

Yet.

1) Change the tone, bring character back into the equation...did that, even if not reciprocal.

2) Judicial system....did that, we're in charge of judicial committee next month and we'll see the end of judges who enjoy inventing new law.

3) Reorganize bureaucracy...after 9/11, seized the opportunity to condense 20+ overlapping agencies. Difficult, but who better to fix this mess than 'W', Cheney, Rummy?

4) Fix budgeting procedures....they've replaced several Pubbie porkers (The Cardinals) who gamed the budget process to invariably load up last minute legislation.(http://www.humaneventsonline.com/articles/07-22-02/jeffrey.htm) An intriguing story...check it out.

5) A litmus test for foreign aid...did that...The 'Millenium Challenge' is similar to Rush's 'excrement list. It's a "Use our aid against us and you're toast" kinda' thing.

6)Taxes...did that and more to come. When it is demonstrated once and for all that tax cuts increase revenues, the implications are beyond huge. Reagan's same tax cut message gets spun as ineffective because spending wasn't cut as Congress promised. This could be big, forever.

7) Social security...the so called "third rail of politics" was a winning plank of several midterm races, and the young people of America like the idea. It will happen, once explained properly.

8) Challenged 'irrelevant' United Nations...UN in the process of confirming it, for all to see.

9) Racism...White House nudged T-Lo to stand down as Sen. Maj. Ldr., thus defusing a favorite and lethal weapon of race-baiting Dems. "Republicans act, on our problems, in contrast to Dems."

10) Improving govt. efficiency with .8 million jobs put up for bid...weakening unions and cutting undeserved pay raises. Wants merit based promotions/raises.

11) Out smarting the Democrats
...I was astounded when we watched 'W' and Rove play Daschle like a fiddle, controlling the debate leading into mid-terms, literally twisting them in the wind, forcing the Dems to ask for a debate on war that they didn't want, could not win, and knew they could not win, but did anyway ! These guys are good!
12) Education
... We know how he feels and where he wants to go re: education/vouchers/school choice which, btw, will further expose Democratic racism.

IMHO......
No adminstration has had the foresight to tackle or the skill to achieve these MUST DO'S. I have complete confidence in the direction this administration is headed...they'll solve immigration, even if it means annexing some Mexican borderlands. (hey..I like that one)Tort reform, & abortion are on deck.

We held our noses at some compromises made to win all 3 branches of govt., but that's politics. Let's see what happens now. Several moves ie; 1)T-Lo's demotion, 2)The Cardinals removal, 3)refusal to bail out Speaker Hastert's buddies at United Airlines speaks loudly that right is right, whether its Republican or Democrat.

The administration must now speak LOUDLY for these issue, but I believe they now can and will show more courage than was possible and prudent coming out of the 2000 elections. The people are in place, common sense ideas are in place...and I've joined 'W's chorus.

" All of the 12 items you have listed will be fruitless if illegal immigration is not curbed - this will be the destruction of our country if Bush (who I otherwise support) does not stop pandering to the Hispanics. "

Couldn't agree more.

Hey, I like sarcasm as much as anyone, but for sarcasm to be effective it has to be based on at least some reality.

BTW, your #2, the anti-personnel mine thing. That's a pretty good idea. There might be some hope for you yet.

I have to admit, this whole "I'm a conservative, but I'm just rational" thing you do here is genius. But do you discuss this with the guys at DU, or was it your own idea?

"You know, George Walker Bush reminds me of the guy who was given CinCPAC Operational Plan 29-42."

Given it or authored it?

Bush is not only authoring our new Midway victory plan, but he's also leading our charge.

The person I had in mind was the man that Samuel Eliot Morison (among others) have called the "victor at Midway." He was the one given the orders.

CinCPAC OPLAN 29-42 was an operational order given to Rear Admiral Raymond Spruance in late May of 1942. The mission assigned in OPLAN 29-42 was to contest the upcoming Japanese effort to capture Midway atoll.

OPLAN 29-42 directed Fletcher and Spruance to avoid placing themselves between the enemy and Midway, and instead "inflict maximum damage on enemy by employing strong attrition tactics."

In a separate letter, Nimitz continued: "You will be governed by the principle of calculated risk, which you shall interpret to mean the avoidance of exposure of your force to attack by superior enemy forces without good prospect of inflicting inflicting, as a result of such exposure, greater damage on the enemy."

Spruance proceeded to position his forces to the northwest of the Japanese force's likely axis of approach to Midway, at a position codenamed "Point Luck." He ignored a diversion in the Aleutian Islands, and had scout planes on Midway locate the Japanese carrier force, allowing his own force to maintain a covert posture and not fritter away combat power on scouting tasks.

The result of Spruance's quiet decisiveness was the destruction of four Japanese carriers in return for the loss of one American carrier. Along with the four carriers went much of Japan's best-trained aviators. In one short battle, the correlation of forces had swung decisively against the Japanese.

I think one of the most important things Bush did, not on your list, was in THREE executive orders, he SAVED MORE BABIES than all the protestors that ever marched and all the Randall Terrys that ever served jail time.

One ex. o. denied funding to foreign nations through UN money if it was used for abortions.

Another ended abortions on military bases.

A third, the parental consent, was part of a medical privacy ex. o. that Bush reversed from the Clinton years.

There was also a fourth, but I forget its exact details. At any rate, these measures---all done VERY quietly---ended more abortions than Reagan did in 8 years of wonderful rhetoric. I love Reagan, but Bush has been the most pro-life president, ever.

That's just part of the reason I'm ON-RECORD predicting that the RATS will achieve third-party status by the end of this decade...MUD

Yup. He knows what he wants to do, and gets it done with a minimum of fanfare, as opposed to Clinton's way of doing nothing significant with a maximum of fanfare.

I'll settle for slow, steady progress over self-promoting BS any day of the week.
