Immigration: Where is the OUTRAGE??
The Sierra Times ^ | Dec. 20, 2002 | Jackie Juntti

Posted on 12/21/2002 8:57:28 AM PST by madfly

I have been surfing the many news pages for months, and all the headlines, for the most part on a daily basis, mention the "War" in the Middle East. It is either Iraq, bin Laden, Palestine, Saudi Arabia or the like. Many articles about America going to fight over in that part of the world - the pretext being that we are fighting "terrorism".

I have yet to see headlines about the Invasion of America on our Southern Border. The SILENCE is deafening on this topic. The only time I read articles related to the Mexican invasion is when one or another ILLEGAL INVADER is spotlighted as not being able to get "instate tuition" at some tax funded school, or one of them needs very expensive medical care. All of this type of "news" coverage is based upon the bleeding heart mentality that we rich Americans should be opening our national door and bringing in all who wish to come and benefit from our years of hard work.

We have laws regarding "immigration" and we have a procedure to be followed to legally enter America. Many foreigners follow those rules and eventually are able to enter - legally - and then apply to become citizens. I welcome each and every one of those people. Members of my family originally entered America in this manner, coming in through Ellis Island. Another part of my family was here to greet them, as they were native Americans.

I can't fathom the silence of the media in reporting on the stealth invasion of America by all those who avoid detection at legal entry points. I can't understand why they are not making this a daily headline, with the numbers in bold print as they did during the Viet Nam war with the body counts.

I can't fathom why Bush, Cheney, Colin Powell, Ashcroft, and all those in Congress are not doing daily press conferences, alerting Americans to the invasion that has been, and continues to take place every single day of the year.

Where is the OUTRAGE they had following Sept. 11th? Do we need planes diving into buildings and fires raging in order to stand in front of cameras saying that AMERICA IS UNDER ATTACK!!!

Why are the leaders of this nation so silent on this INVASION at our Southern Border? What is the back room deal that has been cut to keep the Welcome Wagon Ladies standing there, tables heaped high with goodies paid for by the America taxpayer? Why are we not condemning Vicente Fox for sending in his stealth operatives as we condemn Osama bin Laden and his ilk? What is the difference?

We have almost daily "ALERTS!" about some threat of some kind from the "terrorists" but nothing about the INVASION of AMERICA from Mexico and elsewhere. Why is there such SILENCE on this matter?

Recently, Rudy Giulliani went to Mexico as a consultant to deal with the alarming crime rate there. In fact, he was alleged to be the target of a kidnapping attempt while there. I hope "dealing with the Mexican crime rate" doesn't mean sending them North to the U.S. Vicente Fox and his Coyotes have been doing that job already, and quite successfully.

I can hardly wait for Sen. 'Chatty' Patty Murray of Washington to hold a press conference exclaiming how Fox & Coyotes have built schools and all those same good things she is now applauding bin Laden for. Perhaps we will have Jim McDermott standing along side of her telling of his recent visit and how wonderful those folks are that just want to find a "better life" in America. Even better would be for all this to be "Bipartisan", and all those GOP politicians could stand with them pushing open the borders so everyone can have a miserable life when America is finally brought to her knees by the INVASION taking place before our eyes.

I am telling you, there is something mighty strange going on. America is being invaded and the leaders of America are pushing to open the gate even wider to the invaders. They have already granted AMNESTY to thousands and now want to grant more options for the last wave of invaders. They are keeping a lid on any news that exposes this invasion - twisting it to promote only the "plight" of those poor downtrodden ILLEGALS, so as to build up more bleeding hearts to open our homes to the invading troops. They won't even refer to them as what they are - illegal invading troops - they refer to them as "undocumented aliens" - that is supposed to make us feel sorry for them and to ignore the fact that our laws have been violated.

We also have George W. Bush - the president of AMERICA - opening the Social Security benefits to Mexicans. I guess welfare, education, health care, housing, unemployment, isn't enough. We need to send them SS checks too.

Maybe we should bring Rudy Giulliani back here to deal with the ALARMING CRIME RATE in the Federal Government. We have men in high places openly subverting American law and our Constitution. If nothing else, maybe Rudy, with his recent experience at attending funerals, could officiate over the death of America as we knew it.

Where is the OUTRAGE?

Bye, bye, Miss American Pie, Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry. Them good ol' boys were drinking whiskey and rye Singing 'This'll be the day that I die, 'This'll be the day that I die.'"

Nice tally. Note each time I posted was in response to one of the 3 of you setting a new sleazy low for name-calling and personal attacks beginning with your infamous post #12.

I don't have any statistics on relative crime rates of legal vs illegal. If you have any, let me know.

My way of thinking leads me to believe that, generally speaking, illegals make a concerted effort to keep their nose clean since involvement in crime is the quickest way back. Residential property management people and tote-the-note car lot salesmen attribute the illegal's prompt pay behavior to the same reason.

I think your off-base in lumping the illegals in with the cross border bandits, who have always been around. You can be sure that the higher the number of illegals crossing, the easier it is for the bandits to hide amongst them.

Perhaps your own last statement might be a good reason to halt all illegal immigration.

BTW, 4Freedom excoriated you pretty good, with your own words. Why come back? I'll bet they're nicer to you at DU.

Mine: "The list could go on, but those who are anti-immigrant, not merely anti-illegal are glaringly obvious."

Yours: Yeah, so "glaringly obvious" you never named one.

Okay. You, in your own words:
out-of-control legal and illegal immigration

What scares you about LEGAL immigration, then? Lessee. It's not race, it's not national origin, it's not religion, right? Fear of competition, then perhaps? I'm curious as to what it is you are afraid of from LEGAL immigration.

You didn't even have the guts to copy me on your post #174 to nicollo where you called me a miscegenist.

Oddly, I didn't call you a miscegenist--a miscegenist would be someone who mixes with another race--but you are screaming that being "called a miscegenist" is distasteful. Freudian slip? Or do you indeed consider that distasteful? (in your hysteria, you missed that in the context, I was referring to popular support in the South for laws AGAINST miscegenation, and it was merely an illustration of the perils of democracy).

Oh, most definitely, I am a libertarian---in that I am a believer in liberty not in the power of the omnipotent State--and a believer in the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.

Merry Christmas, if you consider yourself a Christian. I am off for the holidays. I do hope you enjoy yours here in the greatest country in the world, made that way by all the immigrants who came here and built it into the fabulous melting pot that it is.

No, 4freedom is upset because I posted the whole story on the poll that all the antis use.

He is also upset because I posted the DOJ stats on Hispanic prison population.

He is also upset that the unemployment rate during the 90s showed the the US absobed a huge number of illegals without anyone losing their job. BTW, that rate was at 8% in the last year on Bush I, and decended to 4% in late 2001. Even now after the bubble burst and the attack, it is hovering at 5.8, 5.9, 6.0%.

You see, I have presented facts that neither you or 4freedom can dispute. That is why the two of you have had to resort to attacking me personally, which as I have pointed out, only weakens your position futher.

This is what happened in 1996 and how the dems manipulated legal immigration.

We had them beat in 1994 but that double-headed snake Clinton-Gore changed the electorate more to their liking.

Very cute:
How about that, Joe? When nicollo wants to insult us he calls us "lumps of coal". I suppose that's a real insult in his mind, because coal is black.

Figures he'd show himself to be the real racist on this thread, if we kept him posting long enough. ;^)

You can't even hit the slow ball.

If I wanted to insult you, I wouldn't have kidded you with a Kris Kringle joke about lumps of coal while wishing you a Merry Christmas. Maybe I should have said you'd get bundles of sticks for Christmas, so you'd think I'm homophobic, not racist. I guess I'm not up to your hysterical visions.

Since you're so intent upon divining the blank spaces between my lines, let me translate what I wrote: "Merry Christmas."

You're too angry to recognize kindness, even when it slaps you in the face. Sarcasm falls like lumps of coal down steps upon the single-minded. Your outrage rises quicker than a twenty dollar bill in Tijuana.

Since you're playing the Grinch, I'll insist: Merry Christmas.

If you don't want it, I'll gladly take it back. Just ask Santa.

The easiest solution: make it easy to get to that wonderful Land of Oz up north. The ones who do go are typically the bolder ones who are more apt to make trouble when they finally get pissed anyway. They’re not only out of the country, but they’re sending home billions of yanqui dollars every year, thus keeping some more pressure off the government and the upper castes. ... Smuggling aliens is a good diversification;
I think we're landing in the same spot. If there was an effective means to stopping illegal immigration I'd be all for it. There is none.

Like the WOD, it's a game far too-entrenched for a quick exit. Remember the Clinton response to financial crisis in Central America? That's right, more dollars sent home by illegals in the USA. The horrible truth is it's true. At $30K per Guatemalan, there's no stopping it. We might jack the price up to $50,000 or, $75,000. I suppose that'd bring in a better type of illegal, or one who's carrying more coke.

That's as good a solution as we'll get. Especially with the real problem, smuggling.

I suppose an objection to my view is that I haven't offered a simple solution. I've asked for reality, which isn't much fun. Actually, I have proposed the solution to stop the incentives for it. That means stopping the work, stopping the demand for it, stopping the welfare and schooling and the leftist prostitution of the issue.

Our side would fare better to specify our attack. By demanding an end, any way, any how, to illegal immigration, and the ultimate measures to stop it -- shoot on sight, for example, we only free the opposition to ignore us. An illustration is with AIDS. During the early 1990s, the homosexual community was told by the leftist enlightened that the only way to stop the spread of the virus was to use condoms -- don't use a condom and you die. Well, the strategy backfired. The next generation of fags took them at their word, so they decided that if one didn't use a condom once, one needn't ever use a condom. Condom use dropped, and AIDS skyrocketed again.

Demands for zero tolerance always backfire. Supposing we dried up the border traffic, what will that do to the rest of illegals? Nothing. It'll push it into new areas, that's all.

The answer to your question: money? Do I get the autographed photo?

Your this is worth repeating:

However, I see a larger problem: both sides are looking at it simplistically and in a one-dimensional manner – even here on Free Republic, and I consider this place to be the ultimate free-form think tank. I mean really; how many times have the Freepers out-guessed the rest of the world and the media, called the shots in advance, and then sat in front of their keyboards feeling a semi-gleeful disgust when the media and/or politicians play things out exactly as predicted.

That's their choice ---no one begged them to work here, if they don't like our taxes they should work at home.

Hey thanks for the voice mail last night. I probably shoulda said it was my office number...

Anyhoo, it looks like even more bits of truth are emerging from this panel of dozens. Let's see.

Border bandits find it easier to hide among the illegals -- close. Unfortunately the banditos are freelance punks and they piss off the cartels by drawing unwanted attention, sometimes to the wrong areas. The cartels view the illegals as their own private decoys. I'm still waiting to see somebody here pop to the right conclusion on why illegals are still valuable to the cartels after they reach their new home. Any takers?

You are partially correct on your answer to the homework assignment. Money is the root, but the real answer is control; actually, control of two separate groups -- one large, one small. Do some reading on Santeria. It is not directly related to Saint Death, but there are some parallels. The connection is not so much in their beginnings as in what they became later. For extra credit, take a look at methods used by the Viet Cong in the early '60s; ignore ideologies and think about why this concept works almost anywhere.

Good evening, Lowrider. I really was hoping you would show up on this thread -- and I mean that in a friendly manner for once. I don't know if you're originally Mexican or not, but you have been one of the more up-front open borders advocates in the past.

I really do want your input on this post:

This time I really would appreciate your reasoned judgement on the last part of my post #333 to nicollo. There is more here than just some dork journalist trying to get ink and a by-line on a piece of sensationalism.

This request is not about immigration, legal or otherwise. I simply do not want to see this madness migrate from Juarez to Agua Prieta. I have too many friends there.

But the numbers of other Europeans who went back is suprising.

I guess it is in a way because we tend to think people who came always stayed but then again it is hard to go to another country and culture, learn a new language. Without the safety nets we have now though many Europeans and others went back ---which back then meant another long boat ride ---not easy. Without welfare, many of today's immigrants would also go back, we see many now who won't learn the language of this country but now they don't have to because they can just depend on taxpayers to provide for them if they don't care to make the effort.

The political will to cut off welfare to immigrants today would never be there, all we'd see on tv are stories of hungry children and the homeless. That's why the libertarian's position that we can have open borders if only we did away with welfare is unrealistic.

It's not a matter of ending immigration, but rather focusing on those who have skills and are employable. Even then, it shouldn't be so overwhelming it displaces American workers as H1-B visas are doing.

I'm white as Wonder Bread and have NEVER advocated open borders.

I really do want your input on this post:

That being said I read the quote you mentioned and feel it's akin to fearing Freddy Krueger.
Olvera Street (where L.A. was started...by Mexicans) in Los Angeles has been selling "Saint Death" statues and such for at least 30 years. It appears to be a Mexican cultural icon. Check out some white boy tattoos...same s**t.

You made some wrong assumptions about me, but thanks for the reply.
