He tells me it was easy for him You've got to REAlLY HATE it in order for quitting to be easy. I have found that people who are 'forced' into quitting, can not. Most people who smoke really enjoy it. When you enjoy something, it's not easy to give it up. If I come to hate smoking, I will quit. So far, I haven't gotten to that point.

You're exactly right. One has to WANT to quit to be successful. When I quit, my heart and lungs were beggin' me to stop. My Mom, unfortunately, never wanted to stop. I remember hounding her for a while in the mid-70s, but gave it up because she didn't appreciate me trying to get her to quit. I had to choose between my concern for her and preserving the peace. I chose peace. She quit in 2000 finally, after she got a tumor on her lung and had it removed. A few months before she died she told me that she wished she had quit years before she did. What could I say? "I know, Mom....so do I." She "enjoyed" smoking and never wanted to give it up. It was awful for me to see her smoking and choking so bad like that, but anyway.....
