Yes I do. What did you want him to do? It was the truth. Do you really think the people defending Clinton were going to vote against him? I didn't like it anymore than you did. I wanted him to fight too. That doesn't excuse the fact that he's being labeled something that he's not. Throw him out for that reason but don't pretend it's because he is a racist.

I noticed. It's bizarre. Posters like TLB are ironically right when they say Republicans eat their own. WE are now being branded as racists and Dems. It's as if Lott has somehow tuned from a gutless wunderboy into some sort of saint overnight. Actually I listened to the speech president Bush made in Philadelphia and his remarks about Trent Lott's remarks were spot on, He said "recent comments by Senator Lott do not reflect the spirit of our country. (Applause.) He has apologized, and rightly so." The key word is COMMENTS and the key answer to them is APOLOGIZED. That should have been the end of it. But who ever is advising Trent Lott needs to be let go. He should of allowed reporters to interview him on the street somewhere and explained himself and apologized in front of the cameras. His first major mistake was giving the credit to the RATS claims by holding that prime time Press Conference in Mississippi. It has been down hill since

I have not been defending anything except that Lott is not a racist. The fact that people are falling for this crap again makes me sick. If Trent Lott was so bad why the heck has he been elected over and over again. Why were people willing to keep him around if he was so sorry?

You are trying to paint a person as something they aren't. If you all want to keep going down this road fine. Who will be next? I am not willing to give in again because someone decides AFTER YEARS of electing a man that he is now unfit for office because his enemies say he is.
