Trent Lott (R-MS) is now facing more calls to replace him as Senate Majority Leaderfrom top republicans

Good news. Trent is hosting the "Sanford and Son" marathon on "Nick at Night" next Thursday.

He is already doing voice overs for "Jeri Curl" commercials.

Lott is now finished. He is in no position to use the power of Maj.Leader. He is of no use to the conservative cause or to the Bush White House.

Lott is not a racist, but Lott cannot stay. Lott would rather stay in power by pandering, than walk away from power because of principle and self-respect

The Democrats have hold of his testicles and they will not let go. Whenever he has an urge to take a conservative stand, the Democrats will SQUEEZE until Lott falls back into the Democrat line.

Lott is in no position to push the Bush agenda.

This isn't about whether he's racist or not, and for the dozenth time, his remarks at Thurmond's party aren't proof enough in themselves. He must be good to his constituents, or they wouldn't continue to vote for him....but he's making thigs WORSE for himself AND FOR CONSERVATIVES IN GENERAL every day this drags out!! It has to stop! (It might be too late for that, but who knows)

Lott said he didn't think he should have to resign or be replaced, and denied that he is a racist. "To be a racist, you have to feel superior," Lott told interviewer Ed Gordon. "I don't feel superior to you at all."

Lott, sitting alone with Gordon in a Mobile, Ala. television studio, continued to insist that he didn't mean anything racial with his Thurmond comments.

"What did you mean when you say 'those problems'?" Gordon said.

"I was talking about the problems of defense, of communism, and budget, of a government that sometimes didn't do its job," Lott said. "But again I understand that was interpreted by people the way it was and I should have been sensitive to that. I obviously made a mistake and I'm doing everything I can to admit that and deal with it and correct it. And I'm hope that people will give me a chance to do so."

THIS IS JUST TOO MUCH. Lott just said that since February is Black History Month and has just 28 days in non-leap years, he will introduce legislation in the Senate to extend the month to 32 days.

If Lott went to a KKK rally and donned a white sheet it would be comparable to those 'Rats going to Iraq. A harmless comment at a birthday party to a man who rejected segregationist views decades ago is no analogy.

But by trying to make it into a big deal, look what the end result is.
