Firy debate on Fox Wire about Lott.
Fox News

Gregg Jarrett just moderated a debate between a member of the Civil Rights Industry and the head of the white separatist Council of Conservative Citizens. The subject was Trent Lott. It was interesting listening to the head of the council defend Lott by defending Thurmond's 1948 campaign. Jarrett repeatedly pointed out that Thurmond's only issue was segregation and the council's head kept on splitting hairs so Jarrett switched to other race-baiter. The represenative for the Civil Rights Industry was named Tyler, I think. Jarrett pointed out that all Lott was doing trying to cheer up an old man. The industry's represenative rambled about how Lott needed to resign and apologize. Finally Jarrett asked the council's represenative whether or not the council was a white separatist organization. The council's represenative of course denied it. However, a visit to their website will tell you otherwise and if you are still not convinced, link to their many links.

I think Gregg Jarrett has gotten better at Fox. I was pleasantly surprised by this interview.
BTW: Don't ask me for the link to the Council of Conservative Citizens.

Didn't Jarrett recently jump ship from the sinking MSNBC?
To: Sparta
not to pick on Jarrett but I think it would be pretty hard to come off looking bad when you are moderating a debate between two loons.

Good point. But Jarrett has begun acting like a reporter instead of a propagandist. BTW: Did you see the interview and if so, can tell the names of the people involved?

Bob Barr spoke to the CCC. Several times. He's quite a darling around here.
Is Barr a racist?

Here is the Council of Conservative Citizen's homepage:
Council of Conservative Citizens
I know some members and went to a couple of meetings. Most of the folks in the group started as an opposition to the flaming liberalism of the 60's and 70's. Like many groups, the CofCC picked up some racists along the way. I personally do not think everyone in the group is a racist. They are sort of like the John Birch Society with a Southern flavor.

So you support segregation or slavery?
The idea of a all white, Protestant nation died even before the Republic was founded. Maryland began as a Catholic colony. Benjamin Bannacker, a black man, was the architect for Washington DC. The Confederacy included black and Catholic soldiers. Hell even the Confederate Attorney General was Jewish. America may have been predominately white and Protestant at the founding and there may have been racism to attempt to keep it this way, but even great men make mistakes. Most Americans of all races and religions began to see themselves truly as one people as we have matured as a nation. We have also elected a Catholic President(admired by many here on FR), appointed a black Secretary of State, a black National Security Advisor, among other minorites both conservative and liberal who have contributed much to the Republic.

Didn't get to see it, but you've piqued my interest -- I'll have to start watching Jarrett more often. Usually, I turn Fox off when he is on.

Your ignorance is again on display.
Tell me the racist statements of Condi Rice, Colin Powell, JC Watts, etc.

You may not believe this but Gordon Baum of the CofCC used to live not to far from me. I've also heard him on the radio talking about the busing issue that started back in the 1970's. He had is facts right on that issue.

The John Birch Society is not racist. They are conservative and push a conspircay theory view of history and the Lefties like to claim the Birchers are racist.

I honestly can't answer that. I never once called Lott a racist. I believe he got carried away at a old man's birthday party. Not even Strom Thurmond today shares the beliefs of his own 1948 campaign. But, I still think Lott should resign as Majority Leader because of his stupidity.

For those who might have missed the obvious parallel, compare "CCC" and "KKK."

I oppose all racial preferances, but can you defend Mr. Baum's current beliefs on race?

"Bob Barr spoke to the CCC. Several times. He's quite a darling around here.

I don't know. However, he is a jackass for speaking to such an organization. We slam democrats we genuflect to Sharpton and even worse Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam. I put the CCC in the same league.
A colorblind meritocracy (espoused by most conservatives) is a worthy goal. I am not willing to give up on the goal or concept. If the conservatives/Republicans can't clean their own house and practice what we preach, then we should expect no better from the public at large or our political opponents.

He's not going to resign over "stupidity."
Would you quit your job if your co-workers thought you were "stupid"?
