A Few of FR's Finest.....
......Every Day

FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders;  tell a few jokes;  learn a new word;  write poetry;  pray for those in need;  and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.

Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!

And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

To Our FReeper FRiends: We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our spotlight on various FReepers. We thought we'd kick back on the weekends and simply review those who've been featured during the week. If you missed seeing them and want to say hello to them now, feel free to click on the link to that particular thread. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today and tomorrow, please feel free to do that also. One of us will always be around to see the welcome mat is still out, and maybe even put fresh flowers on the table. :)

     2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up.
     3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit.
     4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it.

I just tried to make my own link with the address that you gave me and it says: The page cannot be displayed.
I don't know why the link isn't working for me.

Sure is a nice evening here, moon is bright, even through the high, thin clouds.

It is raining up north of you. Don't know if it is heading your way or not. But, rain is a good thing in our state....(except when the houses start sliding down the hills in Malibu, of course).

Keep plugging away at your work......it will all get done in good time. :-)

I'm a good one to talk about plugging away at your work.....that's what I should be doing too......sigh, but it is much more fun to play here with all you fine people.

Hey Mama ......
We missed you and JK last night. Hope you will be able to make it next Friday.
Don't tell my Bro but I ate 2 cookies last night. I needed the energy to keep warm!
(Do you think he will buy that?)

It's nice to be missed. You know we ALWAYS want to be there. We are going to try for next Friday, for sure.

Don't tell my Bro but I ate 2 cookies last night.

LOL. I heard about the lemon cookies and tea. If we can come next Friday I will try to come up with something extra special to bring, since it will be our last rally before Christmas. :-)

I needed the energy to keep warm! (Do you think he will buy that?)

Doubt it. LOL

We pray that he is improving MB. He seems to be. He had a pretty good day today. He walked downtown to the shop and to the P.O. and worked a couple of hours, then walked home. Probably half mile in all. The biggest challenge for us is losing the weight. He hates healthy food. I hate cooking. We're both working on it, LOL.

Thank you Aqua. Every Christmas is crunch time for me. It always appears to be more than I can do, but my blessed Lord somehow sees me through it all. After Christmas I just sit down and thank Him for all my blessings. Wish all of you guys could come to our Bethlehem Inn. It's going to be so much fun.

Next Sat. is our big project. An actual Bethlehem Inn feeding the whole community, treating them to the Christmas story acted out, and a live Nativity stable complete with a singing angel, a live sheep and maybe a goat or two. Now am I nuts or what?

No, you're an angel, I think. :-)
What a wonderful thing you are doing!

I'm an incurable dramatist. I love putting on plays. Must be where my daughter gets it (she's professor of theatre and drama at App. State in N.C.). We are using the town hall for the Inn because it's got lots of tables. All the servers will be in costume and will serve soup, breads, fruits, cheese and cookies. The Inn keeper and his family and servants will act out the program and it's soooo funny, all except for the Nativity scene. Joseph and Mary come to the inn and are sent away. They come back and the innkeeper's wife cajols him to let them stay in the stable. Later the servants discover the star over the inn and the innkeeper thinks God is punishing him for not sacrificing enough sheep. When things start getting confused he tells God, "if you want your sheep you better get it now." The whole crowd will go outside to see the new baby and we have a beautiful girl with an angelic voice as an angel. She will sing O Holy Night and What Child is This. I made her a beautiful white sparkely gown last Wed. The biggest worry I have is that we won't be able to seat everyone who shows up. We can only seat about 60. We may have to run through it twice. Still have lots to do to make the place look like an old inn. Any ideas?

Tomorrow night I'm taking my poarents to the Nutcracker at a beautiful old theater in Tacoma.

That sounds just lovely! Our local ballet troup does a Nutcracker production every Christmas. It isn't a "professional" performance, they are young people who attend the local dance academy here, many are children of friends of ours that I have known since they were toddlers.......but I love going to their production each year. It is one of the high points of the holidays for me.

Wishing you and yours all the best of this beautiful season.
