Whether people agree w/Mary's choice in men or not (and it is beyond ME how she could be married to Cueball), she HAS been one of the most vocal voices for the GOP...and an acceptable spokeman on shows like Meet The Press. Mary was the precursor to the Laura Ingram types...and has consistently been able to call the Dem-spinners on their B.S. when ever she debated them. She had her own radio show on CBS and co-hosted CNBC's Equal Time. In 1999 she became co-host of CNN's Crossfire.

This character assassination based on her choice of a husband is way overboard, imo. Even Rush Limbaugh attended her wedding. I can question her choice in men, but NOT her devotion to, and support of the Republican party.

And you're right, this IS old news....and has been in the 'works' for some time. Those calling this a 'house-cleaning' are playing create-a-crisis, imo.

I had just forgotten about this news reported awhile back .. you are right Mary should not be discredited because of her husband

The reason I mentioned cleaning house was because I saw a thread reporting rumors that Christie Todd-Witman might step down ..

Good.

Crossfire needs a worthy competitor to 'snake' and 'forehead'.

"I doubt she would ever reveal anything that would have harmed the President or anyone else in this administration."

But does she talk in her sleep?

Should be the other way around. These people had better start noticing who butters their bread. They try to alienate the conservative base in exchange for the moderate democrat vote, they're as good as gone. Buh bye Republican vote.

I agree. They don't want to alienate the very conservative base that won them the past two elections otherwise Bush will be a one-termer just like his father.

Powell should be made to be doing all the bellicose stuff that GWB has been doing vis a vis Iraq, and the Inspectors. It was Powell who got us doing the UN thing anyways. He should be told to 'make it work'. As it is, GWB is doing all the down-and-dirty threats, so Powell comes across all spiffy 'peace-nik', Powell is one of the LEAST public of the Secretaries of State I've ever seen. And regarding the toadying up to Islam to placate our pseudo-Allies in the Mideast, that ALSO should be Powell's job. Let him bow and scrape to Mecca at that stupid mosque. If Bush wants my vote next time around, he is going to have to earn it. As far as I am concerned, he is no different at this point than Hillary hugging & kissing Mrs. Arafat. Blech! He has gone too far with the toadying. It totally discredits his profession of Christianity IMHO.

She shouldn't let the door hit her in the rear on the way out. What are Carville and Schrum going to do now without their direct source of leaks from the White House? Another big ego bites the dust. The sooner she leaves the better.

Well, as Sophia Loren once commented in Two Women when asked if she could ever sleep with Mussolini, "you just have to keep the lights off" (or something to that effect).

As usual, you don't know what you're talking about.

She had announced a LONG time ago she wasn't staying the entire term.

Sorry. Find something else to pander with.

'Mary Matalin leaves the W.H. to spend more time w/ her kids'

I have no problem w/ this at all. Shoo, Just Go Away and spend more time w/ your lovely spouse.(LOL) I want to know who's replacing her as Advisor to Cheney and Special Advisor to Bush. Did W. ever replace Karen Hughes? I doubt it, because that relationship goes back many years and was irreplaceable. M.M. IS replaceable and 'thank you, goodbye'.Once again, she returns to being simply a pundit, and surely will be on the Sunday shows regularly.
