Prayer Request for Coast Guard Rescue that is Underway in Oregon

Pray Request

This same boat, 52' Motor Lifeboat Intrepid, is right now towing a 52' sailboat back to Charleston OR.
On board are 3 of my Coast Guard Brothers and 1 Sister.
They are battling 30-40 foot waves and nearing the harbor entrance.
They have been underway since 10 AM PST and went about 15 miles out
to rescue the sailboat and the 2 people onboard.
Due to extreme bar conditions
They will have to stay outside of the bar and attempt a crossing in the morning.
The 2 47' boats will be at the bar entrance when they finally cross.
I personally know all involved (except the man and woman on the sailboat).
This is how some of my Brothers and Sisters that I work with every Thursday
are spending part of this holiday season, saving others lives.
The former CO of the base is the SAR (Search and Rescue) co-ordinator at the
13th CG District headquarters in Seattle.
Please say a prayer for the safety of all involved.

hehehe... My first tour was on the Polar Sea (icebreaker out of Seattle). One time of several crossings of the Gulf of Alaska I was on lookout on the flybridge. 80 feet high. Took green water over my railing...

Sounds like they will behaving a rough ride but 20 foot waves are survivable by the Coast Guard vessel and a 55 doot sailboat whould also be able to handle them.

I will still be praying for them but it looks the the worst is probably past.

bwaaahahaha... Roger that. I still use my steel coffee cup from those days. It has several big dents in it from flying across the chart table and smacking against the radar, or the maneuvering board, or down the ladder... and I remember where every single dent came from. Those were the days. I still miss it.

True. It will be rough but they should get through the night OK. Just need to keep station and ride it out.

Pray for that tow line. Make it strong and keep it that way. It would be a very very bad thing if it were to part. That's the only thing that matters now.

A good way to get the cook to tinkle in your wheaties was to order an omelette when the ship was rockin and rollin.
