I will spread the my ineptitude statement around. Everybody is guilty... INS, Justice, Executive, states.

Malkin gives an example in her book where INS, sheriffs, police, etc will round up illegals overstaying their visas and then have INS/judges release them on a promise to appear at a deportation hearing. They then disappear again into the population.

That is ridiculous. Either hold them for the hearings or deport immediately. Why do they need a hearing if their visa has expired?

I'm only 2 chapters into her book and I roll my eyes every time I turn a page. The book needs to be sent to every representative at state and federal level (although I am willing to bet it would never get read.)

You're right. Bush needs to make a policy decision on halting illegal immigration. I won't hold my breath though since he is leaning more toward amnesty than closing the borders.

Public school officials, healthcare employees and the police are forbidden to turn in illegals to the INS in most areas of the United States, unless that person is involved in a crime. Then the police "may" notify the INS.

The INS is the agency that recommends illegals be freed until the hearings come about. Why? Because they are instructed to do so.

What we have going on is open borders without calling it open borders. We have people who are very sympathetic to open borders who refuse to order enforcement of our laws.

I have heard from two different people in the last few weeks, that the INS has been ordered not to apprehend, detain or deport illegals. Only one person can do that.

I keep meaning to buy her book, but right now I'm afraid to read it as it hits too close to home.

Things have gotten just a bit weird here in Cochise County in the past few weeks. First, the Border Patrol quietly closed and dismantled the checkpoints on the highways leading to I-10. That gives any illegals or smugglers an unimpeded shot at hitting I-10 and all points east and west.

Border Patrol vehicles also suddenly became invisible. I'm used to seeing them constantly while driving, but now I *might* see one per day.

Meanwhile, I hear the Barnett brothers are catching twice the number of illegals they were getting last year.
