I'll bet you anything Specter and Chafee will switch. Both are extremely pro-abortion. Specter voted against Bork and said recently that he'd vote against anyone who thought would overturn Roe v. Wade. The only reason he came to Clarence Thomas' rescue was because he was up for re-election and needed to make up for what he did to Bork.

All it will take is one or two more Jeffords to screw us again. I understand your point .. but the questions is .. are those names that have been mentioned willing to take that gamble??
The voters put control of the houses in Republican hands in 2000 .. the dems stole it with Jumping Jeffords .. AGAIN the voters put control back in the hands of the Republicans in 2002
Jeffords poltical career is OVER .. are those Rino's willing to kiss their political careers good bye??
My guess is NOPE

That's with a lot less of the vote in. It's a bigger Landru lead now.
To: marajade
If enough GOP senators jumped, Dems
might promise them the MOON. McCain
ALONE wouldn't make it, so no reason
to jump. Don't trust him or Chaffee,
though. I don't think the ME female
senators are party switchers, nor is
Specter likely to IMO.
But they're all still LIBS.
Big problem...
To: Holden Magroin
Specter ain't switching... He's actually facing the possibility of a strong primary challenge... I think the guy's name is Toomey?
To: BerniesFriend
That is exactly what will happen.

I think you and
Nick Danger are two of the best analysts on the forum.
Good post, as usual.

becasue he didn't keep changing his position on abortion every week...like Terrel did...
Looks like Black turn out was good and Whites gave Mary votes in the high 30's

I hope you're right, but it seems few politicians can think in the long term, even when it comes to their own careers.
To: GraniteStateConservative
Woody Jenkins had a set of philosophical beliefs and he never wavered to gain voter support. Mrs. Terrell, by contrast, had few strong beliefs and seemed to prevaricate on more than one occasion. Ultimately, she was being propped up only by the Bushes and Cheneys. There was "not there there." Sadly, Jenkins could have done as well as she did had he not been discredited by some of his business dealings. And of course, it was Terrell who beat Jenkins for the election commissioner's post in 1999.

Mid-Term Elections = 100 Million spent by both PartiesRun-Off in Louisiana and Democrat incumbant barely wins = DNC Spends $Millions
Republicans retain the House and Take Control of the Senate and Re-Write the History Books = PRICELESS
:-)
To: Theodore R.
Not the removal of his spine, but allegiance in perpetuity to the Democrat party and the "little people."A friend of mine confronted Bishop Donald Wuerl (D, Pittsburgh) during my confirmation party (I was confirmed by him at age 18), as to his continued membership in the party of abortion and welfarism. He was mighty upset about that question, let me tell you! H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-T-E-S-!-!-!

You bet short summary:
1. Make sure EVERYONE gets on board after primary. Cooksey, Foster, and that guy in LA-5 need to pay a big price for holding back.
2. Do not EVER count the Dems out.
3. If you got bad news, wait until the day AFTER the election.

And who was leading the pack -- Bill Schneider? He was gloating earlier when the race was 50/50 saying how the GOP sent down their big guns and little ole Mary was running solo with the help of Jesseeee and the black caucus. What he didn't say was that Clinton/Gore/Pelosi/Gephart and Daschle are not popular in La. and their help might have meant a Terrell victory. He sickens me! No,it was a pretty dark haired woman (she looked Eurasian)....don't know her name but she was grinning from ear to ear! I couldn't stand it & flipped to FOX.
This will give the RATs a little gloat but GOP still controls the Senate.....thank God!

The Dens could possibly get 2 of Chafee, Snowe, or McCain to switch--but probably not. I don't know anything about Collins. These people have been winning elections. There is no reason to balk now. Jeffords looks like a fool and will be hard to get re-elected. Nobody really likes political traitors. McCain knows that he couldn't win the Democratic nomination for President, so there's not such a good reason to switch. The VP slot for the Dems is possible for McCain, but unlikely.
