Tell us how crowded/not crowded it was when you went to vote!

Did you see voter fraud and what is the talk about exit polling and the possible outcome?

Yes she did, and she didn't have to pull an Al Gore by re-inventing herself like Landreau did. After all, It was Landreau's support of President Bush that won her this election

And she was claiming to be pro-life. Maybe she won on lies. Her voters are pretty dumb.

Bush has one self-inflicted .45-caliber-sized hole in his right foot right now.

Actually, the people that voted for Landrieu shot themselves in the foot. How can they expect her to bring home the bacon since she's a member of the minority party?

I agree (and if Breaux doesn't run for Gov, she can run).

Don't look at this as a defeat....there may be some good in this.....we know not what tonight....but in the long run, it may get the Republicans out and busy for 2004....

The Founders were no dummies for restricting the vote to free, land-owning, male citizens. (I did not say "white" on purpose, because free, land-owning, black males had the vote, too -- few though they may have been.)

Maybe I'm rusty on my history. Where were blacks allowed to vote pre-1865? They weren't even considered citizens, as I understand it, slave or not. That's what Dred Scott was all about.

So here's an important question for all of you:

Since Landrieu pledged outright to oppose tax funded abortions, and to support laws to protect human life from the moment of conception, will there be a demand from anyone that she keep those pledges?

I never believed her pledges to begin with. I think she was flat-out lying, and on a church document, which makes the lies even more disgusting.

However, she can prove me and others here wrong by keeping her word and voting pro-life.

There's no legal way, of course, to make her keep those promises. But will anyone be there to point out her deceit when she (as I expect) breaks those promises now that she's safely re-elected? Is the Catholic Church going to demand that she keep her word to them? They should excommunicate her if she does not.

Now the soul-searching begins...

LA is not the only state where a strong challenger was lacking. Let's face it, Terrell, while a rightous person, was not the most energinzing candidate ever. You're right, all it would have taken was a stronger candidate. But in a state that hasn't elected a GOP senator since reconstruction, good Republican candidates are hard to find.

Also, while it is true the primary we had over 50% of the vote, that was when the GOP was pumped to get out there. Having won the Senate and the House and having heard relentlessly about the GOP sweep, it is likely that there wasn't much motivation to get out there. The job was done basically. Neither candidate turned them out. Move on an learn from the loss.

And finally, while I am Catholic, I am sick of hearing about how Catholics always vote abortion. There are more CINO (a great new term BTW) than real catholics. They are no longer the voting bloc they once were.

I would like to see the precinct breakdown especially in the predominately black districts.....my guess is that Donna Brasile & her cohorts did an outstanding job of 'grab & drag' to the polls! Terrell just couldn't offset that kind of 'get out the vote' effort!

Even granting you your debating point (touche!), is my comment about Miss Australia pro- or anti-Semitic?

I think your comment might be anti-semantic.

You are right. Everything was static till New Orleans came in. That gave Landrewl the boost she needed. Like so many other cities, it cancelled out a lot of territory.

"I think the 6% unemployment coupled with the shakeup of the WH economic team threw this one to Landrieu."

. . .agree; and was wishing GW and Cheney had waited just a little longer for the 'shake-out' to take place. . .

and agree as well with you that this election was a big deal. . .

I am so disappointed. . .

The Rats had their clocks cleaned and if they want to make a big deal out of an incumbant beating an un-known republican challeneger.... LET THEM

Exactly .. that un-known republican challeneger only lost by 2% .. not really a blow out to me
