Quick Heads Up: Did I Hear Right? Hackworth Called Cheney a Draft Dodger?

Posted on 12/05/2002 2:04:54 PM PST by Arthur Wildfire! March

My ears might have deceived me. Did I hear correctly on the Sean Hannity Show? Did Hackworth call Cheney a draft dodger?

Moreover, the draft board had the final word on the doctor's recommendation. LOL to you.

A good friend of mine served with Tony in 1st Bn 9th Marines at that time. Tony was his best friend in-country and he wrote a STINGING indictment of BlowJob Billy a few years ago. It was masterful!

Dave S can also try to tell me... I was there and it sure seemed real enough to me at the time. Then I can arrange for him to meet other friends who were there. We can set him up on a regular speaking tour!

Your knees ain't that bad if you can survive being rushed by 350 pounders in a football stadium.

Kindly cite even one 350 pounder that chased after Namath. You are applying modern criteria to a past phenomenon.

So nobody in the Reserves or Air National Guard served in 'Nam? I never served, but to me, if you serve, and take the risk you COULD go, that's enough for me. Once your in, WHERE you serve is largely out of your hands. Bush was in. 'Nuff said. Cheney had legal deferrments. 'Nuff said.

Hack was fine with his superiors until everything he'd been saying about the war and how we were fighting it started becoming true.

He needed to leave and they were happy to see him go because from the mid-60s until today he blows the whistle on stupidity in the brass' ranks.

AS it happens I'm from New York and happen to know a great deal about Mantle. also. He suffered from osetomylitis as a result of a high school football injury. His draft board flunked him 4 times.

Another story ended. Try again.

My understanding is that President Bush did not complete his tour, and in fact fell short by about 15 months or so. There appear to have been some backroom finagling to get him out of his obligation. The documents are publicly available on the web.

Your understanding is incorrect.

Produce the documents that you claim are publicly available.

Who got an exemption due to connections and now holds public office that evidently you think some of us should be decrying but are instead supporting. Who?

Thanks for the memories (I don't know why we're talking about this now, old age approaching I guess)

I was #58 and graduated in 70, I assumed I was OK till I graduated, but one semester was all I needed.

I asked the "low number" enlistee draft dodger question before, and no one answered, so I don't know. If the marriage deferrment was still around I would have done it (why not, doing it anyway), fatherhood, that would have been too much.

Fighter pilot is not a safe occupation, even in peacetime, though carrier pilot is really unsafe.

Is Hackworth getting Scott Riter disease?

No, more like Audie Murphy-itis. It happens.

Moreover this. Namath and Mantle couldn't pass the physical. What is your problem?

Nice try. Am I to believe that NO Democrats avoided service, legally or illegally during 'Nam? Better luck next time.

Direct "contrivention" of those who, in service or not, faced the gallows for treason if caught by George III's minions? I hardly think so. Also, many, if not most, had prior service in His Majesty's forces (French and Indian War) which would further qualify them to know what they were doing.

I've listened to him and am familiar with his agenda.

What I would like to know is what his stance - his public opinion, not printed in book after the fact, but spoken at the time - was regarding Desert Storm prior to our action against Iraq then. My impression is that for some reason he sympathizes with Iraqiis. Maybe he married a middle easterner, that I don't know.

I noticed from your link it says Dick was born in 1941. Add 18 years and I get 1959.

Not too many of our boys were in Vietnam then.
