Turkey Is Among "Most Reliable" of U.S. Allies
by Gerry J. Gilmore

CHARLESTON, S.C., Dec. 2, 2002 -- A senior U.S. administration
official traveling with Deputy Defense Secretary Paul D.
Wolfowitz praised Turkey as one of the "most reliable allies" of
the United States.

Wolfowitz's trip to London, Brussels, Belgium, and Turkey was
delayed because a faulty part developed in his C-17 plane's
backup communications system. The group flew here Dec. 1 from
Andrews Air Force Base, Md., to replace the part, as required by
regulation to fly overseas, an Air Force official noted.

The deputy secretary's group departed Charleston about five hours
later for London, where he is slated to meet with senior British
leaders. He then travels to Ankara, Turkey, for discussions with
top Turkish officials.

In Charleston, the U.S. official noted to reporters traveling
with Wolfowitz that Iraq would be high on discussion lists in
Great Britain, Turkey and at NATO.

The official said Turkey recently elected a new government whose
majority party, although comprised of an Islamic base, has
declared for the continuation of a democratic and secular state.
Turkey continues to provide Operation Northern Watch air bases
from which U.S. and coalition planes over fly northern Iraq, the
official noted.

Turkey has been a staunch U.S. ally since the Korean War, the
official said. Today, its assistance continues to be valuable,
the official continued, whether as another strong ally to
confront Saddam Hussein to convince him to give up his weapons of
mass destruction peaceably or as a potential partner in a
possible war with Iraq should Hussein refuse.

As U.N. inspectors traverse Iraq looking for prohibited weapons,
the official remarked that the first real test of Saddam's
sincerity comes Dec. 8, when he has to declare his entire WMD
inventory.

Following Turkey, Wolfowitz will jet to NATO Headquarters in
Brussels to meet with alliance leaders.

The trip is the first of a series over the next few weeks in
which senior U.S. leaders will travel to several regions, the
official said. The trips are intended to enhance support for
Iraqi disarmament and to sound out allies for assistance in the
event Hussein reneges.

========= American B-52s over Afghanistan =========

the country from the Taliban because of the 911 Atrocities, and remains on the hunt.

========= Kabul, Afghanistan =========

========= Kandahar, Afghanistan =========

In Kandahar, Thopbanda, an Afghan game.

========= London =========

by Saddam Hussein between 1979 and 1991 for refusing to work on Iraq's military nuclear program.

This Marine looks like a character model for Unreal or Quake! Those guys have got to be scary in combat, especially with all the cool toys -*er*- weapons at their disposal.

Dad was a 'lifer'. He spent most of 1948 in Turkey. I am looking at a brass coffee grinder he brought back from Turkey!

"This photo was staged.. "

You are an A--hole. With this simple statement you have trivialized the tortuous death that these kids went through. That was a little kid sitting on the top step, not standing. Nerve gas make the body go through all kinds of cruel contortions. Pull your head out of rectal defilade.

Thanks for the ping, Linda.
Dio, thanks to your unending efforts, there can be no question in anyone's mind why we're getting ready to open a can of Whoop-A$$ in Iraq.
I just wish the major outlets would pick up on all the photographic evidence that's available to them. It is really sort of humorous (in a dark way) to see some of your tamer pictures on the front page of the local rag two days later!

What makes you think his convulsions didn't begin just inside the front door and work his body half out the door?

While some obviously dropped in their tracks, others obviously convulsed before they died. Can't believe you think these are fake.

***That was a little kid sitting on the top step, not standing. ***

Thanks for taking the time to refute that imbicilic remark! Some people will trivialize anything to 'demonstrate' how smart THEY are! That child was sitting on the step minding his own business when his life was taken.

"Turkey has been a staunch U.S. ally since the Korean War, the official said."

One of the panelists on Wall Street Week in Review (CNBC (pm eastern) last Friday night, said that NATO IS the US, Britain, and Turkey. The others are along for the ride. I think he knows what he is saying.

I'm not sure who Radu the Handsome is, I'm sorry to say. I chose it because it's the name of my favorite vampire (I love vampire stories and movies). To add to many folks' confusion, Radu is a masculine name....and I'm a female. LOL! It's a loooong story.

Atrocities are a fact of life in countries run by insane, bloodthirsty dictators. Child labor is a fact of life in poor, underdeveloped countries.
