[history]
A top NYPD official is being probed for helping rockers Steven Tyler and Joe Perry obtain pistol licenses in return for alleged VIP treatment at an Aerosmith concert and ritzy after-party, The Post has learned. Deputy Inspector Benjamin Petrofsky, the former head of the NYPD License Division, is the target of two probes into the circumstances that enabled Tyler and Perry to receive "carry permits," which allow the rockers to legally possess concealed handguns in the Big Apple.

One set of laws for the common man, one set of laws for the elite.
Exactly.

True. But instead of punishing them for obtaining permits for two people who probably need the protection, and already have licenses in other states, they should ease up and let a few more people protect themselves.

The Second Amendment in New York involves big bribes to the gun control bureaucrats. This is a well known fact for 50 years. Thus Rosie, Aerosmith, and anyone with clout and/or bucks gets their guns.

"...One set of laws for the common man, one set of laws for the elite..." True.
But, in this case, the 'law' in question is nothing more than illegal, unconstitutional claptrap...
Of no concern to a Patriot.

The NYPD Internal Affairs Bureau is trying to determine if Petrofsky violated departmental regulations when he cut through red tape to help Tyler and Perry, sources said. You mean they don't know for sure and they started this BS propaganda already?

Steven Tyler and Joe Perry are both Class III permit holders which allows them to own fully automatic weapons so long as they comply with the laws of their own State.
Ted Nugent wrote about some full auto shooting with the boys from Aerosmith in his book "God, Guns, and Rock and Roll".
It seems Tyler and Perry have expensive taste in weaponry. It would be interesting to find out exactly what they were licensed to carry in NYC.

New Song Lyrics for the thread to the tune of "Walk This Way"
Backstreet dealin with a cop whos used to stealen
said hed talk to the boys in play
He said you aint gettin nuthin till ya grease my palm with somthin
And Im sure you could be makin my day
All I wanted was some cover for me and my little brother
Because our right to a gun's been infringed
But the best things of freedom is that permits we dont need em
And the though of it just makes me cringe
A like this...
Talk this way, but act this way. (the cop said)
Talk this way, but act this way. (the cop said)
Talk this way, but act this way. (the cop said)
Talk this way, but act this way. (the cop said)
Talk this way, but act this way. (the cop said)
Talk this way, but act this way.
Just get a permit....

Other than police officers and armed security guards, there are two types of people who can obtain handgun permits in New York City -- celebrities and jewelry store owners.

RKBA aside and bullsh*t revenue based CHL/CCW laws charging me for what the 2nd grants for free.........
IMO a man did not risk his career for "a ticket to the show, backstage access and a limo ride to the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Famers' post-concert party"
Stay Safe !

I'm actually looking into getting a carriers permit, however my lawyer told me not to even bother, since it is such a corrupt system, and the whole thing about carrying large sums or money or facing threats is just a lie. I do remember reading an article a few years ago, about how if you were african american, there was a something like 99.9% chance you would get turned down for a permit, or and hugh chance that if you already had one, they would revoke it sooner or later. Al Sharpton wouldn't even comment on it, and refused to talk about it.

2A considerations aside, I can't believe they don't fall into this category;
Prohibited Persons
The GCA makes it unlawful for certain categories of persons to ship, transport, receive, or possess firearms. 18 U.S.C. 922(g). Transfers of firearms to any such prohibited persons are also unlawful. 18 U.S.C. 922(d).
These categories include any person --
Under indictment or information in any court for a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year;
convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year;
who is a fugitive from justice;
who is an unlawful user of or addicted to any controlled substance;

Tens of thousands in New York and L.A who can't get permits carry illegally and face fines or jail if they should be caught. Its not like these otherwise law-abiding folks have a choice. The law puts them in a situation of either going defenseless and waiting to be murdered or be armed and protect yourself and go to jail if the police find out you've carried a concealed gun in public. I mean the whole system is corrupt that it literally turns people who really do need a gun into outlaws. The reality is people in NY and L.A already pack but they just don't bother getting registered cause you can't and who wants to have to get a bureaucrat's permission to defend their home and family? Sure the laws could be changed to rectify the unjust and ugly situation but it would mean getting government out of people's lives where it shouldn't be and there are powerful forces with a vested interest in keeping the status quo around with regards to guns.

"He's a family man with five lovely kids, and the suggestion that he did anything improper is absolutely preposterous," said another friend, Bo Dietl, a former NYPD detective. Preposterous or not-- power abuses priviledge.
