No, that's what billbear was saying, that's the position I was attacking. You're right rape and vandalism aren't moral equivalent, rape is much worse, but BOTH are things we should seek to elliminate even if said quest is impossible.

'Folks like me'? Why thank you!! Insults all around, eh? Just ignore my entire statement and go for the name calling is that it?
I've never been involved in a 'riot' as you say, except on the receiving end. But yes, by all means, suspend all sports. Professional and college until 'those people' see the light. Look, it's a
violent game. That violence spills over into the crowd. You don't see baseball fans rioting at a win do you?
I'm just wondering how you're going to pay for all this. Because in the end it comes down to the money. How much does it cost the university when one or two goalposts are torn down a year versus the amount of police protection that it's going to cost to keep fans off the field. Don't complain to me complain to the university.
And you didn't bother to answer my question. Should the basketball coaches be arrested and thrown in jail for their acts of vandalism in cutting down the nets?

If he is a student, mommy and daddy will scream and cry when they try to prosecute and/or expel their precious darling. That is the problem. If it were my kid, he would have to fear worse from me than the school and police.

I'm just wondering how you're going to pay for all this.Perhaps you have me confused with someone else. I would suspend the game until the drunken rebels learn their behavior is uncivilized. No police necessary.
Your rationale implies that because you survived a post-game riot, that you have earned your merit badge. It IS possible to survive post-game riots. Not everyone will die, so it's all right.
Take your logic another step. There are, and will continue to be, terrorists who will try to harm us. The costs are great to protect us from harm. Thus, we should just open the borders, fold up security, and allow them to run at will.

We aer becoming a third-world country aer -> are. Feeling batter? No, I meant, butter. No, wait, it should've been, better. There you go... I am sure mother other posts will indulge your proof-reading compulsion much more than this one.
Incidentally, how do you know that English is my native tongue, friend? To compare us fairly, it well may be that I spell better in English than you in Norwegian.
If you read up on this matter you'll find that not all writing mistakes are an indication of the inability to spell. More broadly, someone has to teach you that establishing causality has a great number of threats to valifity, so you should not be making attempts so lightly.
Finally, if after everything I've written on this thread you can see typing errors as the biggest sin, you should go to another parish: your priest has not instructed you properly on the matters of vice and virtue.

Time to put electric, barbed wire fences around the fields, I'd say! I like the Texas A&M solution: Set one foot on the playing field, and a cadet with a saber chases you off.

[From Boortz's 11/25 program notes]
HOW TO STOP THE VIOLENCE FOLLOWING COLLEGE FOOTBALL GAMES.
It happened in Columbus, Ohio after the Ohio State Michigan football game, and then spread to college campuses elsewhere. Looting, arson, riots, attacks on police officers. All of this over college football games. Today people are trying to figure out how to stop this nonsense. One local sports talk jock actually suggested that authorities just stand back and let the kids go
let them take the goal posts. Dont try to stop them. Yeah .. thats it. We all know that the best way to end bad behavior is to end it.
The solution is not difficult. Give the students a lesson in contracts. Show them how contracts are drawn up, how they are signed, and how they are enforced. At the beginning of each school year have every single student, as part of the registration process, sign the following contract.
AGREEMENT This agreement made and entered into this ___ day of ____________, 200__, by and between __________________________, hereinafter referred to as the Student, and ___________________________ hereinafter referred to as the University. For and in consideration of the Universitys agreement to enroll Student for the current academic year, and for other good and valuable consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which is hereby acknowledged, the Student hereby acknowledges the following University policy, and agrees to be bound by all of the terms thereof:
- Students are prohibited from leaving the stands and entering the playing field before, during or after any University sporting event unless the Student is in possession of a pass specifically authorizing the Student to enter said playing field.
- Students agree to follow all lawful orders given them by University police, or by any uniformed officers of any local police jurisdiction when participating in or present at any University function, on University property, or at any gathering involving University students in the communities surrounding the University.
- Students are prohibited from any act of violence including, but not necessarily limited to, the intentional destruction of private or public property, looting, arson or rioting before, during or after any University sporting event, whether such event takes place on University grounds or elsewhere.
- In the event Student violates any of the provisions of this contract, Student shall immediately and permanently, without hearing, be expelled from the University. The University shall not be required to provide Student with any academic records, including course transcripts, until Student has made full monetary restitution for any damages shown to have been caused by Students actions. Student shall not be entitled to any refund of funds paid to the University for the academic year in which Student is expelled.
- The University shall have the power to identify Students engaged in a violation of the terms of this Agreement through the use of photographs, films and video records.
- Students only recourse under this agreement shall be to show that the identification of Student as having been involved in a violation of this agreement is in error.
- To sum things up: The Student agrees to conduct him or herself as a responsible adult at all times, or face the consequences set forth herein.

Yea, but PhiKapMom, y'all have won so many MNCs until it is just passe. It's the same with Bama. I went to Tuscaloosa and witnessed my Georgia Bulldogs take care of business on the Tide, and I must say, that their fans were some of the best ladies and gentlemen in defeat I have ever seen.
To: stainlessbanner
One more thing, Bobby and the boys will be back next year. Enjoy the win.Fraid not stainless. Bobby hasn't coached very much in several years now because he had such a good staff. Now that staff is leaving piece by piece, and he hasn't done such a good job of hiring replacements either. Nepotism reigns supreme in Clowntown.
We sure are pleased with Richt and Van Halenger here in Athens. They will be here for a long time to come. Keepers they are. Deo Vindice

24-21. GOOOOOOOO DAWGS!! SIC'EM!!

We had gone through really down times from 1994-1998 and then Bob Stoops and his coaches arrived on the scene -- what a difference! After the down years, I would have thought we might have had some problems, but there were none when we won the National Championship in 2000.
We had Alabama here to play this year and their fans were great! Same with Nebraska fans from the 2000 season. And the fans that came here from University of South Florida the game that LeRoy Selmon was honored were first class.
Beginning to think it has a lot to do with your Administration of the University. Ours doesn't even want anyone to boo the first time the visiting team comes out on the field. Now that didn't work very well, but The Pride of Oklahoma Marching Band salutes the visitors with their fight song at every pregame. At least they are trying to encourage good sportsmanship.

The majority of these students are probably anti war whinny baby heads full of mush liberal know it alls. Go figure.

Looks like a rainbow over the Golden Gate Bridge, but who knows? One of the favorite pranks in my day was people from the opposite team sneaking into the stadium the night before a game and changing the instructions on the card tricks -- thus creating an unexpected display! So who knows what this is, or what it was supposed to be?
To: Plutarch
In 1997 they rioted after they LOST, and tore down the goal posts at STANFORD!!I don't condone rioting or property destruction, but Stanford probably deserved it. They are really insufferable boobs.

Set one foot on the playing field, and a cadet with a saber chases you off.Remember when the Aggie cadet held the Rice cheerleader at saberpoint? That caused quite a flap!
To: Iowa Granny
Step 4. Quit selling liquor in the stadiums. Step 5. Do not allow anyone to carry alchol into the stadium.
They did that years ago at Cal, but the kids used hypodermic needles to inject oranges with vodka. Now they can't bring in oranges anymore.
To: socal_parrot
I also know that with Cal on probation and not bowl eligible this year, this was their "bowl game". I have to plead ignorance, in that I have not been following football this year (and I am far a way from Cal, thank God). How did the Golden Bears get put on probation? What was their crime?
