The Bush administration wants to grant amnesty to hundreds of thousands of Mexican illegal aliens now in the United States, according to the new U.S. ambassador to Mexico.

Tony Garza, sworn in this week at the White House, told reporters in Mexico City that reaching an accord legalizing the status of Mexican immigrants

"More and more we are going to be seeing articles with a thrust of dividing President Bush from his base of support as the Dems are going to be increasingly desperate."

Yeah, it's all a conspiracy against Bush. You say your going to "wait" until you see some action of Bush? Why? One action your seeing, is him doing nothing, that's an action. Another action you have seen is to watch him try, at least twice, to sneak 245i past the taxpayers. Another action you have heard, is from his own mouth, many times. "I want to see a Free Trade Zone from Canada to the tip of South America" blah, blah, and "If you can make five dollars an hour in Mexico, and fifty an hour in Detroit, your going to come aren't you, (wink, wink), and all his other statements about his joy over the amount of "hard working" illegals are in the country. So I don't know what the defining moment of truth would be for you, but many of us have already climbed that mountain and come to a decision.

Let me get this right, George - you want to let hundreds of thousands of people who crossed into this country illegally and pay no taxes reap the benefits of our country with no responsibities, and you want my sons and the sons and daughters of this country to fight and die so you can avenge your fathers disgraced legacy with Iraq. And I thought Clinton and Gore were the traitors. We have all been had again by the Bush family. Flame me but I think Bush is a traitor.

"Bush should be putting pressure on Vincente Fox to create a middle class in Mexico."

I agree. I've no problem with us being a nation of immigrants. We are. I just want us to be a nation of LEGAL immigrants. Shouldn't the people, through their laws, get a voice here? It's wrong for the government to wink at violations of the law.

What about giving them legal status to work here if they permanently give up being able to become citizens and vote when they register for "amnesty" from breaking our law? Would anyone here go for that?

How long before that would be compared to apartied? Also that doesnt do anything for those who are losing jobs. YES THE FACTS ARE THAT ILLEGALS ARE TAKING JOBS. The idea that they are only taking jobs that citizens dont want is a complete load of bullshit.

You're right. I heard it direct from GW's lips on Fox News and that was after 9-11. I was floored in shock.

I recovered thinking that our President doesn't always get the true perspective. I imagined he had some contact with Hispanic families in Texas and also through his brother Jeb's wife's family.

What he is missing is the magnitude of the problem. We don't hate Hispanics, we don't look down at them for their culture. We enjoy their food, music and values and so on.

What we are worried about is the *numbers*.

I believe it was R.M. Nixon who remarked to Chairman Mao that we opposed his "imprisonment" of the Chinese people, that they suffered a lack of basic freedoms. Mao's retort was:

"I have 200 million extra people, where in America do you want me to ship them?"

The threat is in the *numbers*.

>Democrats will never return to their former selves<

Your probably right. The Stalinist wing of the Democratic party has an iron grip and is not about to let go. But we can still dream.

You Clean your OWN toilet, Plant your OWN vegetables, Make your OWN bed.

I doubt you have done any of these jobs for wages--- paid by someone else 40 hours a week for month after month.

I've washed dishes and I've picked rather than planted? Does that count? People work for money. If employers start paying substandard wages to illegals who dont pay taxes and then take their money back to mexico an actual american citizen cant expect to compete with that.

Illegals are working outside of our society while law abiding citizens are forced to work within it....or goto jail. There is no-way your logic is going to get you around the unfairness of that.

This country has a constitution and a rule of law that holds it together. That cannot be replaced by the arrogance and self-rightiousness of people like you.

Cute.
In reality however, things are different. This spring, when the tech. high schools graduate their classes, they will not have any jobs to pick from. These kids are Americans. The local bodyshops, plumbing and HVAC outfits and small construction companies are over-run with illegals. These kids graduating don't stand a chance.

If Bush passes amnesty, I'm going back to my tech. high school and will ask the principal if I can make a speech at the next assembly regarding Amnesty and how it is related to these kids future. If it goes well at my old high school, I'll do it in all the surrounding tech. high schools here in CT.

>Most of the people I know who do manual labor are forced to drink King Cobra, Old English 800 and St Ives malt liquor because they simply don't possess the funds to purchase fine wines

Nobody is forceing them to drink liquor, PERIOD. If they don't posses funds, they should stick to water, milk, or tea. It is much more affordable. This statement sounds like it came from a DNC talking points memo.

Just curious, what representation do Americans who are against the illegal invasion of our sovereign nation have? Who can we vote for because it seems like we're betrayed for political gain at every opportunity. It seems like the Republicans are becoming more like the Democrats, they have no principles or values, merely a quest for political power.

If Bush does this, massive numbers of conservatives will just start staying home during elections or finding third parties. Seriously whats the point of even voting when you get backstabbed by your own representatives.

"If we don't do something about their status, we will be admitting that our country has a permanent underclass," Mr. Garza said.

THEN LETS DEPORT THEM YOU SICK FREAK.

I hate how liberals do this, they force massive numbers of impoverished illegal immigrants on us AGAINST OUR WILL, then claim that we're the bad guys because they're not treated as well as law abiding citizens. This is monstrous.

I will not vote for Bush if this happens. I will stay home or vote third party, this is an outrage.

"If we don't do something about their status, we will be admitting that our country has a permanent underclass," Mr. Garza said.

I would suggest that Mr. Garza look around. Since the Federal Government got into Welfare in the 1930s, America has had a permanent underclass--and it has been growing steadily. (See How The Welfare State Works.)

The only answer to illegal immigration:

No Amnesty This Side Of The Border!

The most powerful argument that can be made for severely restricting immigration, and going back to a National Origins quota system for those we do admit, is precisely in the effect that massive immigration from those having other cultures has on the continuity of American culture. Just in the arguments that the PC crowd use to restrict traditional American cultural norms in public, so as not to make the "diverse" uncomfortable, says a lot about what is wrong with not trying to limit the bulk of new immigrants to those who will be "comfortable," with traditional Americans; that is traditional Americans, acting, talking and teaching as traditional Americans--and honoring the unique qualities of their respective State cultures. A Nation is not a game of musical chairs!

What exactly will that do - for the American people, I mean? I don't understand - really.

These are Garza's opinions, not the end result of how Bush will end up handling it, hence, a rumor of what Bush MIGHT do.

A.K.A.: an Administration trial balloon. That's why this is slingshot time.

What about giving them legal status to work here if they permanently give up being able to become citizens and vote when they register for "amnesty" from breaking our law?

Would anyone here go for that?

Not only would I not go for that, I wouldn't vote for any Republican that did.

When Illegals are Amnestied, it encourages more to become Illegals.
When Illegals are Amnestied, they either bust our immigration caps or push legal immigrant candidates further back in line.
When Illegals are Amnestied, they are rewarded for having broken our laws with intent, from the moment they entered our country.

Illegals erode the rule of law and create an atmosphere that is antagonistic to assimilation. Illegals are antithetical to the American Melting Pot.
