Thank you for all that you have done in service to our great country, MaineRebel.
And SheLion, as always, thank you for your endless efforts against the nanny do-gooders, who's obsession is to control everyones life, bank account and property.

Being from Vermont (originally), I really sympathize with your complaint that Maine is becoming too liberal and RINOs. I had always thought, though, that Maine still is pretty conservative because it's such hardy country. I mean, to live like you guys do with those winters and all, you have to be resourceful. (I always thought it was California weather that made the brain go mushy!) This is just my theory, but I have best hopes for Maine's future. It's climate and landscape punishes slackers.

Hello all my dear friends here on Free Republic. Thank you so much for remembering me and pinging me. Wow! What a week I've had. Haven't had time to post. I had a sick grandson, and I did have lunch with Mudpuppy and G'nad this week. I have been enjoying all the Rush vs Dash-Hole threads. Man oh man they are funny. Hope everyone has a great day.

Hey, folks, is it okay if a wandering Sailor posts here? I don't believe I ever have, although I've lurked it hundreds of times.
I loved the salute to Maine FReepers! Mrs. Cut hails from that state, whence yours truly was stationed for five years, as part of the Patrol Squadron 8 "FIGHTING TIGERS" aboard NAS Brunswick.
I thought winters couldn't get colder. Then we deployed to Iceland. In winter. Then, we detached to Andoya, Norway (go to the Arctic Circle and keep going for 600 miles!!!). In January.
This was after spending two months...in PANAMA!(BBBRRRRRrrrrr...)

Hello Finest FRiends. Just stopping by for a second to say hello to our featured FReeper and her husband.
SheLion and MaineRebel, it is a pleasure meeting you both. I am a desert rat, so I am in serious awe of your fortitude in being able to survive your Maine winters. I have been as far north as New Hampshire so I know it is beautiful country in your neck of the woods, but I'm afraid I wouldn't last two weeks up there. LOL!
Thank you both for your contributions to the "conservative cause". Thank you, MaineRebel, for your service to your country, and you, SheLion, for standing by your military man. As all military wives know, they also serve who keep the home fires burning. Enjoy your day in the spotlight! :-)

Looks to be a wonderful thread, Miss Scarlett. Mind if I drop something in?
My Rate, or job, in the Navy is known as "AW", or Aviation Warfare Systems Operator. Over the years our rate has existed, many of our number have made the ultimate sacrifice. I got to thinking about it when I saw a name on a memorial plaque to the military victims of 9-11.
One of the names was that of Joe "Boats" Pycior, AW1 (AW/NAC). Joe died in the Pentagon on 9-11, and left behind his wife and two kids. Although I personally never met him, many of my friends knew him quite well, and spoke of him with great affection.
His name, and those of ALL AW's killed in the line of duty, are listed on the AW Memorial Site.Clicking on their names will tell you a little about each man.
With your permission, ladies, I'll post this link to the memorial, which everyone who wishes may visit, and pay their respects. It seemed to me to be the right thing to do today.
Simply click on the wings to go there. Thank you.
