Osama bin Laden uses the Islamic faith to justify his nationalist, anti-Western political agenda.
It is an old religious ploy, one that Muslims were on the receiving end of during the Crusades.
Pope Urban II used love of Jesus and hatred of Muslims to motivate his troops at the beginning of the Crusades. Urban actually called Muslims "infidels."
Political leaders often wear religious disguises and exploit hatred in pursuit of their goals.
This brings me to the leaders of the religious right in this country.

Hi, I agree with your assessment. I only posted the article to expose it.
Judges 5:24 ¶Blessed above women shall Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite be, blessed shall she be above women in the tent.

No apologies needed. Actually, since I am a newbie of sorts, I didn't add a barf alert (some nice person had it added!!) and my comment to "please read the article" was misleading I now see.
I wanted people to read the whole article because the most offensive parts were there.
:-)

Precisely. "Barf alert" is a quick way of distancing yourself from the content of the article.

Hi there! Nice to see you here!
You said "I believe this is all a part of the political desire of the Republicans to seperate themselves from us after they got our vote"
I mentioned something to that effect on another thread and it wasn't too well received. But what's the deal with everyone turning on Christians now!

Boy, you got a lotta good mileage out of this one, eh? ;-)
After some thought, if I were this guy's editor, I'd probably fire him. Grounds? Oh, a few things:
(1) Well, it's an opinion piece, I guess, so you have to let stupidity slide; but....
(2) Total inability to research a topic properly;
(3) Showing the same kind of slanderous bias that he eschews in the article (he'll probably have to look that word up);
(4) Showing the same kind of slanderous bias that got guys like Jimmt the Greek and Al Campanis fired;
(5) Sheer inability to write something with a logical foundation.
But mostly:
(6) Successful columnists don't write "rants." It isn't useful, it gets people canceling their subscriptions, and it does nothing whatsoever to make people respect the profession: Professionals don't do this.
This isn't a "Bible-thumper's" critique; it's all about writing -- and I'd expect much better out of a high school composition class.

Yep, they threw their cat into the fight and then disowned him....That's rich. Next time I post there I will tell them that!

It is hard sometimes. I really enjoy battling with the schools. I will not give up, or give in ever. I will take the offensive until I die.
I will say a prayer for your wish to come true.

What profound ignorance. Where are these psuedo-jouranlists educated?

Thanks for your posts and I especially enjoyed that analysis. Do you write?

The article ignores and trivializes the events and history surrounding the Crusades. The Crusades were defensive wars motivated by 300 years of relentless and unprovoked Moslem aggression in the near east. The "casus belli" for the first Crusade was the occupation of Jerusalem and deliberate desecration of holy sites in and around the city by Moslem forces ( this type behavior was observed recently observed again in Afghanistan with the delierate descration of Bhuddist statuary by the Taliban).
The author's obvious cultural relativism forces him to to find a contived and historically inaccurate example of Christian "aggression" to justify his position.
All cultures are not equal; Western civilization is superior has been demonstrated time after time.
