According to a senior Senate leadership source, the election results were barely in before Mr. Jeffords' office put out feelers to his former party's leaders. The message? That the Vermonter would be happy to caucus with the GOP so long as he retained his committee chairmanship. Republican leaders rightly rolled their eyes. This guy gives a new meaning to the word prick.

I suggest that he go do something involving his head and his anus.

Hahahaha, Jeffords thought that the tide in American was going to the left so he went with it at the expense of Republicans. After the landslide Republican victories of a few days ago the other side of the fence isn't so green for Mr. Jeffords. And I love it.

To show how much respect I've lost for Lott and the Senate Republicans, I wouldn't be at all surprised if they granted him his wish.

As much as I respect the Washington Times, I find this hard to believe. If he was thinking he'd worm his way back over to the GOP side of the aisle, he wouldn't have voted against Homeland Security...which he did today.

The worst thing about his switch is that it was the first time since the Whig party the seat was not in the hands of the GOP. That Seat was Republican since the 1850'S

And now the Democrats know about this pathetic old scumbag's treachery.
I'd say he's toast.

At 68, senile Jumpin' Jimmy should just hang it up, seek treatment for his Alzhiemers, and let Dr. Dean pick a replacement.
To: kattracks
Gives a new meaning to the word chutzpah, you mean.
I hope the Republicans really put the screws to him. I think the jumpin' Jim would serve Republican interests much better as an example of what happens to dirtbag traitors.

So what's an opportunist to do? Rejoin the Republicans. Can someone clue me in, when was the last time Jeffords did not vote with the majority of the Democrats? Seems he has been on the Democrat side on every issue.
To: kattracks
The best response would be to put him on a committee completely unrelated to anything of consequence in Vermont. Neuter him politically in his home state. The Committee on Indian Affairs or Joint Committee on Printing would be good places for him to reflect on his decision.

The questions now becomes, will the Republicans stop worrying about being called "mean" by liberal democrats and do what they should with Jeffords? No committee assignment, no power at all within the GOP or in the senate.

Where have the traditional institutions like 'Tar and Feathering' gone? What about the venerable practice of using Stocks and Pillories for these asses?

So what's an opportunist to do? A opportunist can sacrifice his principles for privilege. However, after doing so he should soon anticipate the possiblity of having neither principles nor privileges.

What a whore Jefford's is.
To: kattracks
Take him back to increase your numbers, give him only ONE committee, stick him in a broom closet of an office, and give Linc Chaffee three times the space and staff.

Hey, I think everyone here is very short sighted. Ol' Jim might have had a REAL change of heart, and everyone deserves a second chance. He might even be an honest Senator with real integrity. We need more of those kinda of guys on our side. Really!
Yep, Lott and the Republicans should tell Jim to climb on board. As long as he RESIGNS FIRST and STANDS FOR RE-ELECTION so that the voters of Vermont can have a say, he can come back.
There's nothing more despicable than messing with the results of an election. The voter fraud, stolen elections, and similar actions by the Democrat strike at the heart of our democracy. If the ballot is rendered meaningless by actions in Minn, NJ, Vermont, and Missouri (re: Ashcrofts stolen election in 2000), what recourse do voters have?
