Rush - Say it ain't so!!! [No more free streams from the EIB network.]

Posted on 11/18/2002 9:27:20 AM PST by SlickWillard

It looks like Rush is no longer supplying free audio streams over the internet. The old link [http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/rush8.asx] no longer works. His website now sports a list of affiliates, but as far as I can tell, all of their servers have crashed under the load.

He wants you to pay to listen to his stream now. Memo to Rush: What the hell is this, capitalism or something?

Rush would make book on a cockroach race if it would make him money. Notice he always takes calls if you promote his newsletter or web camera.

It's probably not Rush's decision. Premier Radio Networks is a subsidiary of CheapChannel, err, ClearChannel, and frankly, they don't care whether you listen or not. They make their money off of AM, not the internet. They did the same thing with Art Bell not long ago and while this enraged a bunch of Bell's long-time listeners, they couldn't care less. So don't get mad at Rush, The CheapChannel Borg is responsible for this.

Sorry; I think I like Rush, but not the greedy Rush. I like Bush, but not the cowboy Bush. I like Christianity, but not the militant Christianity. I don't like Islam--militant or not! May be I should be simply foaming at the mouth right winger not a reasoning right winger?

Rush is still available - FOR FREE - on KFI-AM, L.A.

Go to:

www.kfi640.com, enter the site, and hit the "listenlive" button.

...and he's still worth listening to!!! (9-12 am PST)

This station also has Dr. Laura...

BTW this is my first post!!

Note to SlickWillard:

It's not up to Rush whether or not he can "stream" his broadcast over the internet, it's up to the affiliates. Any number of affiliates can choose to stream the audio over the internet, so pick one and listen. Or, for 15 cents a broadcast (which is about the cost of it) you can sign up and listen to it on Rush's site, along with the Ditto cam.

Well congratulations on your first post.

I know that he is available on several of the stations that he listed on his website. But that is not my problem with him.

The man is worth mega bucks and frankly I see what has apparently happened today as just another grab for more money that he doesn't need.

Having said that he is a private business and has all the right to make as much money possible. And I have right to buy or not buy his product.

It was a matter of time: the affiliates were never happy about the free stream direct from rushlimbaugh.com.

I'm getting much better sound from www.wlap.com, 24 kbps vs. a meager 6 kbps.

I wouldn't give a dime to see a "pissant eat a bale of hay" so why would I pay more to hear this arrogant, self-centered windbag say I,I,I, over and over again then get hit with me,me,me, ad-infinasea!!

Whether the preceding("italicized") statement is untrue or is even partially so, it would not change this, Rush is rude, prideful, predictable and repititiously boring!!

I believe in capitalism and they have the right to do whatever they want. But pay to listen to something I can already listen to for over the airwaves for free? Thanks, but no thanks.

roger ailes...

remember when FOX news was live on the internet for three or four years?

I do.
Ailes was part of murdoch's crew.

I think he still is.
Rush had a nice run.
This is a bad move on his part, though it may be his choice, and it is his business.

freepmail him to let him know we don't care for the "choice," and let him live with that knowlege. He probably figures he's not getting that many clients via the internet anyway.

too bad. really.

I agree with you. I only listened on the internet because I was unable to pick him up on my radio deep inside this big office building where my office is located.

Am I missing something here? I just spent the last 3 hours listening to Rush on the internet through one of the affiliates that HE LISTS ON HIS WEBSITE. I didn't pay a penny.

Why all this whining?

It's a strange day when you think of Windows Media and Real Audio as open standards. Sadly, most of Rush's affiliates require some sort of plugin, and I'm getting so paranoid about spyware that I hate to install that crap anymore. A handful of stations still use the "open" standards, but the only one that worked for me was WLS-Chicago over Real Audio [and quite frankly, Real Audio is starting to bear a disturbing resemblance to spyware]. WABC-NY [which has pretty good pipes for Sean Hannity's show] chooses to replay Curtis & Kuby during Rush.

Yeah, I'm gonna miss the little blind chick with the talking computer and her grandpa. The "kid" and the truck driver, the dad and his kids that practice their family home fire escape plan.

Click and Klack, the FDA food safety labels, the gal jogging that stops to tell you about giving to some childrens fund. And last but thankfully least: Vince and Larry, the crash test dumbasses.

I wonder if Rush has numbers maybe that indicate that they were losing too large a share of their radio audience to the internet.

Mega Dittos on the Major league baseball point. Talk about "penny wise and pound foolish". MLB is in all out effort to recruit new fan base, especially younger ones, so what do they do; they start charging for internet access to games. And what do they make, just about enough to cover A Rods tip money to the clubhouse boys.
