NEW YORK --
President John F. Kennedy suffered more pain and illness than previously known, and took as many as eight medications a day, according to a published report.
Newly disclosed medical files from the last eight years of Kennedy's life, including X-rays and prescription records, show he took painkillers, anti-anxiety drugs, stimulants and sleeping pills, as well as hormones to keep him alive, according to a story for Sunday editions of The New York Times.

A known side effect of a guilty conscious is back pain. Hope it hurt like hell for what he did to those poor souls in the Bay of Pigs.

Anyone ever notice that we NEVER get stories about "how it was" in the Eisenhower administration?
Any comments as to why that might be?

I remember reading about this at least ten years ago. Kennedy had serious back problems and was usually pretty doped up. There was a professor (I don't know if he is still around) from my neighborhood who was writing a book about Kennedy and he had a lot of this information, and more. The professor's name is Arthur Hennessey (not positive about the spelling) and I don't know if he ever finished the book but he was given a nice write-up at the time in the Bucks County Courier Times. Hennessey was somewhat involved in politics and ran for office a couple of times but I don't know if he ever won. Apparently he was able to conduct a bunch of interviews with Kennedy confidantes while researching his book.
Funny thing is, this guy Arthur Hennessey was known as a pretty liberal fellow but stridently anti-abortion. Old school all the way.

I guess for the same reason there were clean White House sinks during the Reagan and Bush years, as well as no need to blather about "lusting" in one's heart.
Then again, wasn't it the Dims who were always making an issue of Reagan's age affecting his ability to be President?

I think both of 'em got crabs.

....he was given a nice write-up at the time in the Bucks County Courier Times. Hennessey .....Why, sure!! With a write-up in an international journal like that he was well known. They even named a Scotch whiskey after him.

I would take him (as a democrat) over most current democrats in congress, though.

I once read that his back ailment was partially responsible for his assassination. Here's how:
He used to have, ahem, pool parties in the White House pool, with many young lovelies not named Jackie there. On one encounter, while in the process of either being rebuffed or chasing, he re-injured his back, thus requiring the use of a back brace.
When you watch the Zapruder film, you can see that after JFK gets hit the first time in the throat, he slumps over, but not all of the way, as if something, like a BACK BRACE for example, was holding him up.
Screw with God's laws, and He'll get you one way or another (pun intended).

Sounds like JFK (may he rest in peace) was a regular Elvis.
